TPS for Syrians
Temporary Protective Status (TPS) is now available to Syrian Nationals and persons who are residents of Syria. The USCIS published notice that Syrian nationals are now eligible to apply for Temporary Protective Status (TPS) - as of on March 29, 2012 and until the September 25, 2012.
Individuals who have evidence that they made Syria their permanent home and place of residence but are not nationals of Syria are also eligible for TPS. TPS applicants must provide proof that they have been in the United States since March 29, 2012.
Any person with a criminal record that includes a CMT or AF are not be eligible for TPS and an application may result in deportation proceedings, Persons who are concerned as a result of their criminal record and are otherwise qualified for TPS should consult with an experienced immigration attorney who also practices criminal defense for the immigrant BEFORE filing an application for TPS.
