UAE Law - Consumer Protection Rights
The protection of consumer rights is one of the great responsibility of UAE Government. By availing these services the consumers can save their money and time through long court litigations while having cost effective and prompt justice for them through dispute resolution proceedings.
Consumer Rights as stated in Consumer Protection Law No. (24) 2006
The Right to Safety:
To be protected from products, production processes and services that may cause harm to health and safety
The Right to Know:
To know the accurate information concerning the goods and services (ex: original products, for food to mention expiry date & ingredients, others).
The Right to Choose:
Right to have multiple options of items and services in competitive prices and quality.
The Right to Representation:
The right to express opinions to develop the goods, services, prices and availability
Areas that DED Consumer Rights can help you with
Commercial fraud related to the type, nature, product information and quality of products or services.
Sellers΄ refusal to honor the guarantee or after-sale service or their refusal to remedy defects.
Sellers΄ non-compliance with the terms of promotional offers advertised.
Service providers that carry out the work differently from what was agreed on verbally or in writing.
Any practices by sellers that breach consumer Code of Rights.
Online purchases from Dubai-based companies
DED cannot assist consumers If products and services have been bought from unlicensed retailer/sellers, e.g. street vendors
