The authors offer an overview of the process to obtain a bank account in Panama.
Once you made a decision to open a Bank Account in Panama, you have the opportunity to choose from more than 100 banks in Panama. Some of the more important such as: HSBC, Citibank, Banco General, Bac Panama. Generally they provide competitive rate of saving interests to attract their clients, also online banking.
Once you have chosen the bank account that fulfills your necessities, you should present some documents and do an initial deposit which varies according to the bank of your election. However, we will mention those that are asking as general rule.
Commercial or Corporate Accounts:
• Social Pact and Amendments register in the Public Registry of the Corporation
• Act of the Board of Directors signed by the secretary and president authorizing the opening of the account, pointing out the names of the account signers and the way they will sign the checks.
• Two copies of the Identification Card and a second identification of the officials and signers (driver license or Social Security Card).
• Letter of banking or commercial references of the Corporation, if it has Foreign people should present two (2) letters of banking reference and his passport up to date.
• To fulfill the application form.
Personal Account.
• Personal Identification Card
• Other personal identification (Social Security card driver license or passport)
• Two letters that indicate good credit references.
• To complete the application form.
