The typical divorce process is very expensive and can cost upwards of $15,000. Using the method of divorce mediation instead, couples can save both time and money while ending their marriages.
According to some statistics, the average litigated divorce takes more than a year to be resolved and can cost divorcing couples up to $15,000 or more in the process. Due to the hostility of opposing one another in court, in approximately half of these types of divorces, one or the other spouse feels that the litigation process was responsible for damaging their relationship with the other party.

The contention created by courtroom divorce can and often does filter down to children and even extended family, making the whole situation stressful, unpleasant, and burdensome. For those who wish to avoid both the emotional and financial toll of battling it out in court, other divorce methods can be pursued which make the entire process faster, easier, and less expensive.

Divorce mediation is one of those processes and is generally the most cost-effective way to handle a divorce. Studies have shown that the majority of couples who engage in divorce mediation are highly satisfied with the results; an overwhelming majority of these people would recommend it to others. Approximately 90 percent of these mediation divorces are successful. In comparison, about one-fifth of those who go through a litigated divorce feel that the outcome is fair.

The advantages of divorce mediation so far outweigh the grueling nature of divorce litigation that it is surprising that not every couple seeks this type of process. Those that don’t generally cannot cooperate long enough or sufficiently enough to make the process work. A determination to rise above emotional barriers in order to achieve a mutually beneficial agreement is the first requirement for divorce mediation.
