Law Firm Overview

Dunlap, Grubb & Weaver, PLLC is an intellectual property and business law firm based in the D.C. metro area. We offer an alternative to the high fees of large law firms. Providing the top-quality legal representation at reasonable prices without the excessive "triple review" billing that often comes with business and IP firm, we are a boutique firm that has tailored our service to meet our clients’ wide variety of needs. We offer litigation and transactional business services in government contracts, patent, copyright, trademark, commercial, antitrust, employment, corporate and trade secret matters around the globe, representing both U.S. and foreign clients. Our clients benefit from our competitive fee schedules while receiving the personalized attention that larger firms often lack.

DGW's attorneys have years of experience at lobbying firms and large law firms such as Mintz, Levin, Cohn, Ferris, Glovsky & Popeo, Hunton & Williams, and Hill Ward & Henderson. Our attorneys made the deliberate choice to leave these “mega-firms” to focus on and enhance our specialty boutique practice, where we have an increased ability to serve each client on a personal basis while providing legal services of the highest caliber. At Dunlap, Grubb & Weaver, PLLC, our diverse knowledge base and practice experience allow us to serve the changing goals of our clients. We speak Spanish, French, Pashtun and Dari and offer Mandarin language services. Our partners include an M.B.A. corporate law specialist, former military officers with current secret security clearances, a former stockbroker and a former television anchor for the ABC news network. Our lawyers come from large, top-level law firms with the capacity to serve clients at the highest level. Regardless of your business goals, size or industry, we are an effective partner who speaks your language.

Our firm was founded by Tom Dunlap and Dan Grubb, both U.S. Army Cavalry officers who had worked together as partners at a small commercial litigation firm in Virginia. Jeffrey Weaver, a law school classmate of both Mr. Dunlap and Mr. Grubb, was invited to join the firm in 2004, bringing his MBA and years of corporate law experience from the 100-plus attorney firm he left behind. Mr. Weaver brought with him the business and legal skills to enable the Dunlap, Grubb & Weaver, PLLC to provide legal support in complex and high-dollar-value corporate, securities and real estate transactions. The firm’s corporate and transactional practice has since flourished, and the firm has continued to add a tremendous amount of legal talent to its ranks. By adding experienced partners to the firm such as experienced intellectual property litigators Mike Whitticar, Ellis Bennett and David Ludwig, the firm is poised to continue to successfully service the intellectual property and business needs of companies in our region and across the nation.

Today, with multiple offices and a number of affiliated attorneys and clients around the world, Dunlap, Grubb & Weaver, PLLC maintains an aggressive, strong and focused team of intellectual property and business lawyers who are available to meet the wide range of our clients’ needs, on their schedules.
