Practice Areas

Practice Areas Description

- Defective Drugs & Devices

If you or someone you love has been harmed by a defective drug or a defective medical device, you are likely faced with a tremendous amount of stress, pain and frustration. You might not be thinking about filing a lawsuit, but someone should be held accountable for what has happened to you and your family, and you need to know what rights you have under the law.

The law firm of Aaron M. Levine & Associates has been a national and international leader in recovering just compensation for families who have been harmed by defective drugs and medical devices. We have taken on pharmaceutical companies for more than 50 years and our track record is measured in thousands of successful cases and more than $100 million for our clients.

- DES Breast Cancer

Breast cancer strikes over 180,000 women per year in the U.S. and is the most feared cancer in women. Over 40,000 women die annually from this disease. Known risk factors include positive family history, early menarche, late menopause, absence of pregnancy and the use of estrogen-containing contraceptives. Diagnosis of breast cancer is usually made by a combination of self examination, mammography and biopsy. There are two basic types of breast cancer, ductal type and lobular type.

- Prempro

The drug known as Prempro is a hormone replacement therapy that is used to alleviate menopausal symptoms. Manufactured by Wyeth Pharmaceutical, Prempro is one of the most widely prescribed drug that has been developed to combat those symptoms. Unfortunately, the drug may increase a woman's chance of heart disease, breast cancer, stroke, blood clots and dementia.

- Darvocet

If you or someone you love has been injured by Darvocet, Darvon or generic Propoxyphene, it is important to learn more about your options. The side effects of these drugs can be devastating. The medical product liability lawyers at the law firm of Aaron M. Levine & Associates have the experience and resources to help you get the compensation you deserve.

- Fosamax

If you have been harmed by the drug Fosamax, or its generic form alendronate, we understand the significant stress and pain that can come with the drug's adverse side effects. Legal action may be an option if you, or someone you love, has suffered a broken bone, dead jaw or any other adverse side effect as the result of Fosamax.

- Avandia

The medication known as Avandia is used to treat Type 2 Diabetes Mellitus. Unfortunately, one study estimated that from 1999 to 2009, more than 47,000 diabetic patients taking Avandia suffered a heart attack, stroke or heart failure, or died. The manufacturer GlaxoSmithKline has made billions of dollars off of Avandia sales over the years and has both falsified and suppressed data showing that Avandia had dangerous side effects.

- Actos

Actos (pioglitazone HCl), also marketed as Actosplus Met and Duetact by Takeda Pharmaceuticals, is used as an adjunct therapy to diet and exercise to improve glycemic control in Type 2 diabetics. Unfortunately, recent studies indicate that Actos may be responsible for catastrophic side effects. Continuous use of Actos by type 2 diabetics may increase their risk of developing macular edema that can lead to blindness or life-threatening urinary bladder cancer.

- Chantix®

CHANTIX® (verenicline), a drug marketed and sold by Pfizer, has recently been linked to serious health concerns. Pfizer has advertised CHANTIX® as a safe prescription medication for treating smoking addiction since 2006

- Defective Zimmer NexGen Knee Replacement Implants

The Zimmer NexGen knee implant is an artificial knee designed to allow increased flexibility in the knee joint. The knee implant comes in a regular version and a "high-flex" version, which was marketed to allow for a greater range of motion. An added option with the NexGen system is the Tibial "minimally invasive solution" implant, or MIS Tibial, which attaches to the leg bone without the use of cement.

- Zocor®

Simvastatin, a hypolipidemic drug used to control cholesterol levels, was originally marketed by Merck & Co. under the trade name ZOCOR® and has now been linked to serious health concerns. ZOCOR® became Merck's highest grossing product, having sales of over $4.3 billion in 2005 alone. In June 2006 simvastatin became generic and has been sold by a number of different pharmaceutical companies. It is also sold in combination with other drugs under the trade names VYTORIN® (combined with ezetimibe), and SIMCOR® (combined with niacin).
