Practice Areas
Practice Areas Description
• DivorceAttorney Alan Hoff and Attorney Elizabeth Ryan-Panzer primarily focus their law practices in the area of Family Law, which usually involves a divorce, paternity, custody of minor children, parenting plans, visitation schedules, child support, and maintenance. Whether you and your spouse have resolved all of the issues and seek the legal assistance of a divorce lawyer to ensure that all of the paperwork properly protects the rights of the divorcing couple and their children (an uncontested or stipulated divorce), or you seek a cooperative divorce, or your spouse and you cannot agree on the important legal matters and need an aggressive divorce attorney to litigate your divorce at trial, the attorneys at Alan Hoff Law Offices can help.
• Child Custody
Every divorce of two married persons who have one or more minor children in common will involve a child custody issue that must be resolved. The parties may have an agreement-(a “stipulation' is the common legal terminology) or benefit from representation as they move through mediation, appointment of a guardian ad litem, and a custody study. If an agreement is not reached, Attorney Elizabeth Ryan-Panzer and Attorney Alan Hoff are prepared to zealously advocate for their client’s position at trial.
• Child Support
Child support can be ordered by a court regardless of whether the parents were ever married. Child support is intended to help with the costs involved in providing a home for a child and meeting that child's basic needs. In most instances, support is ordered or expected to be under the jurisdiction of the court until the child reaches 18 years of age, or graduates from high school, whichever occurs last. Child support orders can be extended beyond those two criteria, but you should consult with your attorney regarding all child support motions and modifications.
• Post Divorce Modifications
A post-judgment modification is a change to a Court's previous order, such as a change in custody of the minor children, or a change in the amount of child support. It is very important to understand that any post-judgment modification to a Court order cannot occur until a request is made to the Court to consider it via a motion that is properly prepared and documented.
• Marital Property Agreements
The Marital Property Agreement is an agreement between the parties on the division of parties' assets and liabilities, including the couples' real property (family home, second homes, rental properties and other real estate), their personal property, cash assets, retirement plans, deferred income accounts, 401K accounts, individual retirement accounts, and pension plans.
• Marital Property Settlements
The Marital Settlement Agreement is one of the most important documents that will be generated during the divorce process. Often referred to as the 'MSA', the Marital Settlement Agreement is the contractual agreement between a divorcing couple that resolves issues that are part of the divorce proceedings. A comprehensive Marital Settlement Agreement will address custody and child placement, child support and maintenance, and property division.
• Personal Injury
In addition to Attorney Alan Hoff's years of experience aggressively litigating divorce cases, he is also a highly experienced trial litigation attorney in accident cases, including those in which the opponent's insurance company is challenging liability and responsibility, and those involving extensive medical treatment and therapy.
• Probate
When a loved one passes away, probate is the legal process of handling their estate, and ensuring that the final wishes stated in their last will and testament or provided for by their trust are handled. In addition to dividing property, 'probating an estate' also involves liquidating assets, paying final bills, closing bank accounts, and distributing cash. In some situations, other family members may contest the will, a will may be out-of-date, or the named executor may have previously passed away.
• Real Estate
The attorneys at Alan Hoff Law Offices represent parties who are buying and selling real estate. They assist people with making (or accepting) real estate offers, and with each step throughout the real estate purchase process including the closing.
