Baptiste and was known as such (then changed its name to Baptiste, Young & Co when Andrea Young (now Registrar of the Commercial & Intellectual Property Office) joined the Firm). It is now known as Baptiste & Co. with 2 lawyers and one Law graduate attached to it.

Rene M. Baptiste has 35 years of call to the Bar of St.Vincent and holds the LL.B(Hons.) Degree from the University of the West Indies (1974) and the Legal Education Certificate of the Hugh Wooding Law School (1976). She is the Senior Partner of the Firm. She was the first Manager of the St. Vincent Trust Authority from 1976-1986. She played a pivotal role in the establishment of the Authority, and was responsible for the formation, registration and supervision of international business companies trusts international banks. She wrote articles for Offshore publications. 1996-1997, she was a Consultant to the Government on the new menu of Offshore Legislation, and the establishment of the Offshore Finance Authority, working as the first Offshore Finance Inspector. She was a member of the Caricom Working Party on the Harmonisation of Companies Laws of the Caribbean. In 1986, she opened her Solo Law Firm and practiced extensively in Corporate & Company Law, Family Law, including Divorce and Adoption, Probate & Property Law, including Conveyancing, Leases, Shipping Law, Contracts & Agreements, Trademarks, Civil Litigation, including Registration & Enforcement of Judgments, Debt Collections & Debt recovery, writing a variety of Legal Opinions.

Rene Baptiste is of Call in St.Kitts and Nevis as well as Antigua and Barbuda. She has appeared at the Privy Council in England, the highest Court for St.Vincent and the Grenadines

From 2001 she has been a member of Parliament, and served as a senior member of the Cabinet: 2001-2005 as Minister of Tourism and Culture and from 2005-2010 as Minister of Urban Development, Culture, Labour and Electoral Matters. She tabled 10 Bills; sat on 35 Select Committees of Parliament; debated 10 consecutive Annual Government budgets; chaired 5 of those Select Committees and was a member of 3 Standing Committees of the House, to wit, The Finance Committee, the Public Accounts Committee and the Parliamentary Rules Committee. She retired from elected office in December, 2010.

She has received several Awards in recognition of her tenure in politics, including being named as one of the Top Ten Most Powerful Women of the Caribbean for the Decade, and the highest from Her Majesty, the Queen, 31st December, 2010 with CMG for her work in International Finance, Law, Politics and Culture.

She rejoined her Chambers in January, 2011, and has since served as an International Electoral Observer with the Commonwealth Secretariat (March-April, 2011-Nigeria) and has worked as an External Collaborator/Consultant on behalf of the ILO. She has been called to serve on 2 Select Committees of Parliament this year, as person with special expertise.

She formally appointed Ms.Ambrose as a Full Associate of the Law Firm with effect from February,2011. She brings new and fresh energies and skills to the Firm.

Miss Baptiste serves on 3 Sub-Committees of the St.Vincent and the Grenadines Bar Association- Social & Entertainment; Public Outreach Education and the SVG Law Quarterly Review.
