The law firm of Bland & Bland formed in 1991 when Shannon M. Bland joined his father Robert N. Bland in his Charleston law practice. Bob Bland had practiced law in the state and federal court of West Virginia and surrounding states since 1966. Initially he was an assistant prosecutor in the Kanawha County Prosecutor’s Office, and in 1971 he branched out into a civil trial practice representing victims of injuries from automobile accidents, workplace injuries and various other areas of litigation. Bob Bland became a well respected and skilled trial lawyer and developed a reputation for his willingness to take a case to trail by jury if the insurance companies or corporate defendants involved would not treat his clients fairly.Bob and Shannon practiced law together for eight years until Bobs untimely death in December of 1998 during that time the focus of the firms come even more directed at representing the victims of injuries from car wrecks to premises liability claims, medical negligence claims, and tractor trailer accidents among other specific types of litigation all centered around protecting the rights of injuries West Virginians. The firm’s reputation and willingness to continue to take their clients cases all the way to a jury verdict when insurance companies and corporations were unfair to their clients also continued to grow.
