Practice Areas Description
Our practice areas include:- Business and Commercial Litigation
We represent clients in all types of business and commercial litigation, including breach of contract, partnership disputes, joint ventures, trade secrets and unfair competition, stock options and shareholder disputes. We take an aggressive, yet conservative approach when litigating on behalf of our clients. We extensively research and prepare our cases, even during the initial phases of a trial. We only represent our clients in hearings, depositions, meetings or trials if we are fully prepared. We don’t make representations on behalf of our clients unless we have thoroughly researched the law and are confident that our assertions are in our clients’ best interests. Once we have done our homework, we zealously represent our clients’ interests. We are skilled and experienced commercial litigators and will use all of our knowledge and experience to ensure that you get the results you want. We recognize that some cases are best settled before trial and others are best taken to trial. We will counsel you as to the advantages of the different strategies and give you an honest assessment of whether or not you should settle. If settlement is the best option, we will use our extensive negotiation experience to bring about a result that meets your needs.
- Employment Discrimination and Harassment
The right to work, though not mentioned in the Constitution, is about as fundamental a right as most Americans enjoy. Recognizing this, the federal government and state legislatures have enacted laws protecting your rights in the workplace. Specifically, the laws prohibit discrimination in job-related benefits based on such classifications as race, gender, age, disability, national origin, religious creed and, in some instances, sexual orientation. The “job-related benefits” governed by the laws include hiring, firing, promotions, raises, health benefits, vacations, time off and other conditions of employment. If you believe or suspect you have encountered discrimination in the workplace, either as an employee or as a job-hunter, contact the law firm of the Bononi Law Group, LLP.
- Wrongful Termination/Discharge
The term "wrongful termination" means that an employer has fired or laid off an employee for illegal reasons in the eyes of the law. Illegal reasons for termination include: firing in violation of federal and state anti-discrimination laws; firing as a form of sexual harassment; firing in violation of oral and written employment agreements; firing in violation of labor laws, including collective bargaining laws; and firing in retaliation for the employee's having filed a complaint or claim against the employer. If you have been terminated by your employer and have questions regarding wrongful termination retaliation law in California, contact the southern California law firm of the Bononi Law Group, LLP.
- Protection Under Whistleblower Statutes
A whistleblower may disclose financial fraud, health or environmental violations, or anything else that is illegal or against public policy. Representative whistleblower cases have included whistleblowers who have disclosed: fraud in government purchasing and procurement; toxic waste disposal in violation of environmental laws and regulations; sexual harassment in the workplace; and misuse or abuse of company funds by directors and officers. The attorneys at Bononi Law Group, LLP have extensive experience litigating on behalf of victims of whistleblower-related employment retaliation. They will work with you at any stage of a whistleblower action, whether you are only contemplating reporting illegal activity or if you have done so and been subjected to job-related retaliation. If you are considering reporting illegal activities by your employer, or have been subject to retaliation for disclosing illegal or improper activity by an employer, contact the Bononi Law Group, LLP for a consultation.
- Family Medical Leave Act claims
The Family and Medical Leave Act (FMLA) provides certain employees with up to 12 weeks of unpaid, job-protected leave per year. It also requires that group health benefits be maintained during the leave. The FMLA helps employees balance their work and family responsibilities by allowing reasonable unpaid leave for certain family and medical reasons. It also seeks to accommodate the legitimate interests of employers, and promotes equal employment opportunity for men and women. The Bononi Law Group, LLP, is a leading provider of medical leave and Family Medical Leave Act (FMLA) legal services to both employers and employees.

- Unfair or Deceptive Trade Practice
Unfair trade practices encompass a broad array of torts, all of which involve economic injury brought on by deceptive or wrongful conduct. Unfair trade practices can include claims such as trade secret misappropriation, unfair competition, false advertising, palming-off, trademark dilution and business disparagement. Unfair trade practices may be governed by common law as well as federal and state statutes and regulations. Though unfair trade practices can arise from a variety of business practices, they frequently appear in connection with the more traditional intellectual property claims of patent, trademark and copyright infringement. Our attorneys have extensive experience litigating unfair trade practice claims, relating to all types of intellectual property. We represent clients in Los Angeles, Orange, Riverside, San Bernardino, San Diego, Ventura, Santa Barbara, Kern and Fresno counties.
