Law Firm Overview Free Consultation

Bradley, Drendel & Jeanney Law Offices is a preeminent personal injury firm located in Reno, Nevada. The firm was founded by William O. “Bud” Bradley and John Squire Drendel in 1957. It became the premier personal injury firm in Nevada by 1970 when it was profiled in Time Magazine after achieving a 3.6 Million Dollar jury verdict for a young man seriously injured in a construction accident. At the time, this was recognized as the highest verdict ever awarded a single plaintiff in the history of the United States. Other trial verdicts in excess of a million dollars in the 1970’s and 1980’s cemented the reputation of the firm as a preeminent trial law firm in the State of Nevada.

With the addition of their sons, Bill Bradley, Joseph Bradley and Thomas Drendel in the early 1980's, the second generation of personal injury trial lawyers continued the firm’s tradition of hard work and excellence and maintained the reputation of the firm and its lawyers as experts in the field of personal injury and wrongful death law. For the past five decades, the firm has provided an unparalleled tradition of excellence in trial law, and we believe we are the oldest law firm in Nevada that devotes its practice to personal injury trial law.

William C. Jeanney joined the firm in 1988, and in the last decade, has become one of the most successful trial lawyers in Nevada in personal injury cases. Lawyers Kevin Pasquale and Mark Wenzel joined the firm in the new millennium and have significantly contributed to the hard work necessary to retain our statewide and national reputation as successful trial lawyers for seriously injured clients.

During the recent history of the firm we have continued to achieve success for our injured clients by obtaining multi-million dollar jury verdicts and settlements in a wide range of cases including brain injuries, wrongful death, automobile and trucking accidents, motorcycle and bicycle accidents, birth injuries, defective and dangerous products, premises liability, air crash litigation, boating accidents, nursing home negligence, insurance bad faith, medical malpractice, construction site accidents, civil rights violations and negligent security.

The firm is proud that its members have achieved inclusion in elite national plaintiff attorney organizations such as the Inner Circle of Advocates, the American College of Trial Lawyers and the American Board of Trial Advocates. Individual firm members have been included through the years in Best Lawyers in America. The firm also takes an active leadership role in the Nevada Trial Lawyers Association where the rights of Nevada citizens are carefully promoted and preserved through lobbying in the Nevada State Legislature and advocacy in precedent-setting cases at the Nevada Supreme Court.

Practice Areas Description

Our practice areas include, but not limited to the following:

- Personal Injury

Personal Injury cases are always traumatic. Whether the injury is minor, severe or even unfortunately results in death, the victim(s) suffers some level of economic loss and emotional distress beyond the actual injury and most often than not, these injuries are priceless. Bradley, Drendel & Jeanney ensures that you as the victim or family of the victim receive proper compensation from the party responsible for your damages. When you are the victim of a personal injury, there are four things your lawyer must do right away to preserve your claim: Promptly investigate the accident; Ensure availability of thorough medical treatment; Preserve evidence; Commence a potential lawsuit prior to the expiration of the statute of limitations.

- Automobile Accidents

Automobile accidents cause thousands of deaths and hundreds of thousands of injuries every year and carry the potential for both criminal and civil liability. There is potential for criminal prosecution in the event of serious injury or death under some circumstances. As a victim or as the family of a victim of any type of personal injury, you are entitled to trial by jury and it is the jury who will make a determination as to the amount of damages you are entitled to.

- Trucking Accidents

Semi truck and eighteen wheeler accidents present unique issues not associated with motor vehicle accidents. These differences include: Greater likelihood of serious injuries or deaths; Insurance coverage; Licensing compliance and regulatory compliance; Negligent hiring and supervision claims; and, Negligent maintenance claims. Proving liability in trucking accidents is more complex than in a car crash and very likely will require experts to help reconstruct the accident scene and establish liability. We have complete access to these types of experts and many times, their testimony is the difference in our winning the case.

- Wrongful Death

Wrongful death or injury may be the result of negligent or intentional conduct on the part of the offending party. In a wrongful death or accident claim, it is important that the victim or, in the case of death, the heirs, receive proper compensation. However, there are sometimes other reasons for pursuing such a case. In many situations, the case itself will help prevent others from being injured or killed in the same manner in the future.

- Products Liability

Products liability cases are cases which hold the designers, manufacturers and sellers of a product liable if an inherent design defect caused injury to a person who was properly using the product. For instance, imagine a person who was using a car properly on the street and stopped for a red light. His car is suddenly struck from the rear and, because of a defectively manufactured fuel tank; the tank ruptures, explodes and burns the driver to death. Or, the back of his seat collapses; he goes to the rear and breaks his neck. He is now a quadriplegic. In both of these cases, there is the potential for showing that the product was improperly manufactured and that manufacturing defect is what caused the catastrophic injury - as opposed to your basic “whiplash” injury from the rear-end accident. This would be a “Products Liability” case and it could include causes of action for strict liability, breach of warranty, negligence, manufacturing defects, design defects, and breach of the duty to warn of the danger.

- Air Crash Litigation

Air crashes are tragic events that may have been prevented if proper precautions were taken. Some precautions include: Following acceptable procedures for operations and maintenance of the aircraft; Ensuring acceptable weather conditions prevail along the entire flight path; and, Proper health of the persons operating the aircraft. If these precautions are followed, other circumstances that can cause these accidents include: Someone negligently operating the aircraft; and, By virtue of an inherent design defect in the aircraft itself that has caused it to be unsafe. Any of these circumstances or failure to heed the precautions may be the basis for litigation.

- Medical Malpractice

Medical Malpractice claims define legal action taken by a party when they have been injured due to negligence or intentional actions by another responsible party. A court of law may be used to file a lawsuit to force the responsible party to compensate for damages, physical or otherwise. Not every medical injury provides a basis for a medical malpractice claim. To prove malpractice, i.e., to establish your health care provider's liability, you must have expert medical testimony that no reasonable health care provider would have done what yours did and that your health care provider's negligence was a cause of injury or death. If we establish liability, then you are entitled to damages. Additionally, your lawsuit must be filed within the statutory time period or "statute of limitations" established by state law for medical malpractice claims.

- Insurance Bad Faith

With most people and companies carrying liability insurance, it was inevitable that we deal with the insurance companies and not individuals when we bring personal injury and wrongful death lawsuits. We know Nevada insurance law and are experienced in the interpretation of insurance policy language, coverage, and exclusions, as well as the litigation of insurance claims. We handle insurance coverage issues involving: Arbitration and mediation; Bad faith claims; Business loss claims; Disability policies and coverage; Health insurance; Homeowner’s coverage; Insurance coverage and insurance litigation; Personal injury and wrongful death claims; Medical benefits; Premises liability; Products liability; Property damage claims; Supplemental insurance policies and coverage; Underinsured motorist (UIM) claims; and, Uninsured motorist (UM) claims.
