At Carr Law we assist individuals and businesses in resolving their tax and debt issues. When a client has an issue, whether it be an outstanding tax debt, a credit card debt or they are behind on there mortgage we will examine the facts of the matter and then analyze with the client the best plan of action to resolve their issue.If a taxpayer client owes the Internal Revenue Service for past taxes we will look at several factors, including, but not limited to: the amount owed, the years owed, the taxpayer(s) current financial situation, the tax returns for years owed and then evaluate what the best options may be based on all the facts. As you can imagine not all cases are the same as each people owe different amounts and owe for different tax years and each one has different household finances. Because of each taxpayer's different scenarios there are several different solutions such as:
a) Offer in Compromise to Settle Tax Debt
b) Penalty Abatement to Reduce Tax Penalties
c) Amend Returns to fix Errors or Lower Taxes
d) File Chapter 7, 13 or 11 Bankruptcy to Potentially Discharge Tax Debt or Pay Back Taxes.
e) Set up Installment Agreements, whether it be Streamlined Installment Agreement, Partial Pay Installment Agreement or Installment Agreement to pay back tax debt over separate period of time
f) File Claim to State you are not liable for tax debt via Innocent Spouse, Audit Reconsideration or Claim for Refund with Federal Court.
