Law Firm Overview

Corodemus and Corodemus, LLC is dedicated to achieving the highest ideals of justice, professionalism, and quality service. We are proud to announce that our firm is a dedicated Alternative Dispute Resolution Law Firm, which does not engage in litigation for either the defense or plaintiff parties. This distinguishing feature allows us to remain totally neutral without conflicts of philosophy or client representation.

Our central belief is that our services supplement and do not compete with or substitute for the judicial system. The reality is that litigation is lengthy in time, costly in dollars, resources and consequences for the "losing" party. There are only a certain number of judges available, and even fewer with experience in complex civil litigation. Even those who are experienced and available, must also handle a general civil calendar, with both motions and trials, further limiting the time available for any attempt at conducting meaningful settlement conferences.

Quality lawyers and ADR professionals may assist all parties by providing an efficient, dedicated team analyzing, discussing and assisting with a specialized plan of alternative solutions. Neutrals resolving disputes not only serve their clients' needs but also confer global benefits to the bench bar and society by providing an alternative pathway of extinguishing claims in an equitable, efficient and economical manner. We, unlike other ADR groups, believe that each case merits an individualized solution.

As ADR professionals and experts in neutral arbitration, we pledge our firm to be free of bias, prejudice, conflict or restrictions. We pledge to provide you with high-caliber certified civil trial attorneys and retired mass tort judges who know the law, understand financial values, practice sound case management and apply common sense. We will be honest, courteous and responsive to our clients' needs.

Practice Areas Description

Corodemus & Corodemus LLC law firm has a team of experienced professionals who have handled the most basic to most complicated civil litigation matters. Our services include:

- Alternative Dispute Resolution

ADR and related services is our sole business. Our attorneys maintain strict independence from any conflict of interest or partisan role. At Corodemus & Corodemus, L.L.C., our lawyers do not represent any party in litigation. We are committed and dedicated to creating peace through resolving civil disputes of serious nature and facilitating settlement of complex disputes.

- Mediation

At Corodemus & Corodemus, L.L.C., we assume a strictly neutral role in the civil mediation process. We concentrate solely on ADR and related services and none of our professionals advocate for clients in civil litigation. Mediation is a private, informal, and voluntary submission of a dispute to a forum where the parties are assisted by a neutral third party in reaching a voluntary settlement. Mediation is a dedicated process. This allows both parties and their attorneys to fully explain to the mediator their position, needs, abilities, and problems while examining them in a calm and neutral setting. The ADR team can address and suggest resolution paths that satisfy all the parties' needs.

- Arbitration

Corodemus & Corodemus, L.L.C., serves as arbitrators in complex litigation in any state or federal jurisdiction within the U.S. We may act either as a single arbitrator or as the neutral arbitrator during baseball arbitration. Our clients include law firms of all sizes. We act as court appointed arbitrators or under partners' consent orders. At Corodemus & Corodemus, L.L.C., we help parties reach a resolution in a manner which is efficient as well as respectful. We are impartial participants in a partisan process who have been successful bringing two sides to a creative solution or peaceful resolution.

- Complex Litigation Management

Our lawyers and professional ADR members have "hands on experience" in managing complex judicial calendars such as mass torts and asbestos. We may be able to consult with you on successful court proceedings and schedules such as setting time tables for discovery and assist in "bright line" issues of disposition. This service may take the form of a special master consultant or consent by both parties in case management issues.

- Mass Tort

Judge Corodemus' role as New Jersey's sole mass tort judge, overseeing litigation involving product liability, environmental contamination, consumer fraud and more, has made her a frequent keynote speaker, panel host and featured panelist for HP conferences and a series of mass tort conversations offered for CLE credit for lawyers. Judge Corodemus planned and narrated the first "Mass Tort Judicial Dialogues with Judge Corodemus," in Philadelphia to a sell out crowd as part of the HB Litigation Conferences. Judge Corodemus also hosts a five time per year 90 minute webinar for HB Litigation Conferences on the subject of mass torts.

- Special Master Service

There may be certain cases or issues that call for appointment of an ADR professional. We can look at a particular issue that has delayed or confused litigants in a particular case. Our ADR professionals have encountered various issues from document privilege issues to financial disclosures or meta and embedded data of e-discovery. The appointment of a special discovery master may be the right solution to allow a global resolution to commence.

- Fact Finding

Politicians are fond of saying that individuals can have their own beliefs, but cannot have their own facts. Hearing evidence and issuing findings of fact lie at the center of much of our work as special masters and ADR professionals. At Corodemus & Corodemus, L.L.C., our attorneys and retired judiciary work to assist parties in the reconstruction of a complex set of facts. The facts of the case could have occurred over a long period of time. Neutral fact finding is a unified effort to uncover a neutral set of facts which parties may use in preparing for arbitration or trial.

- Pre-Trial Discovery

In many instances we can provide a significant benefit to all parties involved when we are invited as a neutral third party early in the process. At Corodemus & Corodemus, L.L.C., we serve in the role of special discovery master in the pretrial discovery stages of complicated cases. We can look at a particular issue that has delayed or confused litigants in a particular case. Our experienced ADR professionals have encountered various issues from traditional privileged document issues, to financial disclosures to meta and embedded data of e-discovery. The appointment of a special discovery master may the right solution to allow a global resolution to commence.

- Neutral Party in ADR

At Corodemus & Corodemus, L.L.C., we are no longer lawyers on retainer. We no longer represent litigants. We are true neutrals with extensive experience in class action, mass tort and complex case management within the pharmaceutical, consumer fraud, environmental law and other fields of law. Beginning with the recognition of ADR in 1976 by the American Bar Association and continuing with several acts of Congress primarily in the 1990s, the role of third-party neutrals has grown significantly as a tool for peaceful resolution of complex or highly contentious cases. There are national ADR firms which act as a clearing house for retired judges from across the USA. It is possible to select a neutral for third party legal negotiation from a menu of selections and laundry list of experience.

- Settlement Negotiation

Settlement negotiation is an alternative dispute resolution technique that allows our professionals to assist both parties early in the problem before litigation is initiated. Pre-litigation mediation may involve statute agreements, direct expert dialog or institutional memory reconstruction where time and complexity may cause limitless expense in traditional litigation. This type of ADR can be most helpful in the environmental and/or class actions areas. Of course, any size case dispute must be examined to discover the best method of resolution.
