Practice Areas Description

Friedland Law Group provides legal representation on the following areas of practice:

- Personal Injury

Our personal injury lawyers help people who are injured in accidents recover the compensation they deserve. Many times you are dealing with an insurance company for the negligent party who wants to minimize your injuries or argue they did nothing wrong. The Miami injury attorneys and staff at the Friedland Law Group have over 50 years of combined experience in dealing with insurance companies and obtaining successful monetary recovery for our clients.

- Auto Accidents

Automobile accidents and motorcycle accidents often place people in very difficult situations. There are a few key reasons why you need an experienced Florida auto accident attorney. First, you have to deal with doctors and hospitals to treat you for your injury. Next, you have to deal with multiple insurance companies, your own and the company for the driver who was in the accident with you. Personal Injury Protection (PIP) covers your medical expenses and is something all drivers in Florida have to carry on their own insurance. However, the PIP Insurance Company is often trying to not pay your bills.

- Injury

Our attorneys are specially trained in handling your personal injury case. We routinely deal with cases of wrongful death, catastrophic injury, automobile accidents, motorcycle accidents, slip and trip and falls, construction accidents, work related accidents, defective products causing injury, medical mistakes by doctors and hospitals, nursing home abuse and neglect, assault and battery by a person working at a bar or lounge and negligent security.

- Medical Malpractice

We handle medical malpractice and personal injury cases throughout the State of Florida. Doctors and hospitals often make mistakes that can cause serious catastrophic injury and sometimes death. A Florida Malpractice Lawyer who is familiar with the laws in Florida for these cases is always needed to review the facts, the medical records and advise you whether you have a case. Our lawmakers have passed laws attempting to limit an injured person’s right to bring a lawsuit for medical negligence. The lawyers at The Friedland Law Group can review your claim, explain your rights, and attempt to recover the compensation you deserve.

- Birth Injuries

Having a child is supposed to be one of the most important days of a family’s life. However, if your child is born with a birth injury or related defect, you may have a claim against the doctor or hospital where your child was delivered. The Florida birth injury attorneys and staff at The Friedland Law Group are trained in handling these cases and have successfully recovered for clients in these most difficult cases. Usually your child needs specialized doctors and experts to evaluate your child and our firm can help you through this difficult process. The medical records need to be reviewed and expert witnesses need to be hired to review the case as soon as possible.

- Product Liability

Product liability cases arise when a manufacturer places a dangerous and defective product on the market causing injury or death. Everyday consumers use a variety of products, such as automobiles, electronics, furniture and medications and do not think of the harmful effects that those products may have on them. If companies produce dangerous or faulty products, they can cause serious bodily injury or even death to innocent victims. A product manufacturer assumes responsibility regarding the consumer.

- Wrongful Death

Losing a loved one is never easy. Losing a loved one due to the negligence of a business or individual is even more difficult because usually the accident could have been prevented had the responsible person or company not acted in such a manner. The last thing a family wants to think of after losing a loved one is bringing a lawsuit. A thorough understanding of the law is essential to face the tough realities of life after the death of your mother, father, spouse, etc. Losing a loved one will be difficult emotionally and financially. A good Florida personal injury attorney can help you be fairly compensated for the losses of your loved one.

- Insurance Litigation

Insurance companies owe a high duty of care (fiduciary duty) to their insureds. Insurance companies may engage in practices that result in the wrongful denial of claims. This is done by looking for technicalities in the policy that give the insurance company a technical way of avoiding payments to their insured. This practice may affirmatively breach the contract or intentionally abuse their power and intimidate policy holders into taking a lesser amount instead of a fair settlement of the claim. Please do not let this happen to you. If the insurance company violates their contract, the policyholder may sue the company and be entitled to the money they deserve. As a top Miami wrongful death lawyer, we often address insurance litigation as well.

- Construction Site Injury

Construction has about 6% of U.S. workers, but 20% of the fatalities which is the largest number of fatalities reported for any industry sector. The problem is not that the hazards and risks are unknown, it is that they are very difficult to control the constantly changing job site. The leading causes of death and injuries among construction workers are falling from high elevations, motor vehicle accidents, machines, structures collapsing, electrocution and being stuck by falling objects. Many of these injuries are serious in nature due to the dangers associated with these construction sites. Many of the injuries suffered in construction jobsites include death, brain trauma, spinal cord injury, fractured backs, necks, paraplegia and quadriplegia.

- Premises Liability

Premises liability cases are a result of a defect or dangerous condition on the premises of another person or business. Property owners and occupants owe a duty to maintain their property free from a dangerous condition which is not readily apparent. Many times property owners and occupants allow customers, invitees and licensees to enter an area on that property which may have slippery floors, trip hazards, dangerous holes, defective or broken staircases, defective handrails, broken steps or broken concrete which pose serious risks to invited guests who have no knowledge of the defect. Injuries may result from these defects. These injuries can range from broken bones, brain trauma, fractured back and neck injuries to name a few.

- General Negligence

You may have a claim if you or someone you know has been injured due to the negligence of someone else. Negligence may occur in a number of ways such as when a person fails to do what the reasonable person would have done in a certain circumstance or a person fails to use a certain degree of care to protect the injured party. You have the right to be compensated or paid for these accidents.

- Workers' Compensation

Many employees and workers are injured during the course of their employment. As an employee or worker you should not suffer any setbacks in your quality of life or loss of income for these injuries. Florida law protects workers who are injured, disabled or deceased in an accident during their course of employment under workers compensation. Workers' compensation laws entitle employees to certain benefits when a personal injury is suffered in an accident arising during the course of employment. Most employers are required to carry workers' compensation insurance and so, for all practical purposes, all workers are covered. These benefits may include temporary total disability benefits while you can't work, payment of your medical bills, permanent partial disability benefits, or total disability benefits.

- Consumer Advocate

The attorneys at the Friedland Law Group are advocates for consumers who have been injured in accidents. Consumers have a right to be protected and Jonathan Friedland has been representing consumers in the state of Florida since 1991. Mr. Friedland will meet with you for a free consultation to discuss your options and what action needs to be taken. Mr. Friedland can assist you during this difficult time.

- Nursing Home Neglect

Many of us entrust nursing homes to take care of our loved ones and provide the services necessary for their well-being. Nursing homes owe a high duty to their residents and may neglect the necessary services to residents. It is important to understand that if a loved one is injured it is not always the fault of the nursing home. Many nursing homes provide excellent care and treatment to their residents. However, this is not always the case. Many nursing homes are owned by profit-oriented chains. These nursing homes increase their profits by under staffing their facility which results in poor care for their residents. Our law office will be able to help you prove negligence and show that your loved one’s life had value.

- Slip and Fall

Slip or trip and fall cases occur as a result of a dangerous condition on the premises of another person or business. Property owners and occupants owe a duty to maintain their property free from a foreseeable dangerous condition which is not readily apparent. Many times property owners and occupants allow customers, invitees and licensees to enter an area on that property which may have slippery floors, trip hazards or dangerous holes which pose serious risks to invited guests who have no knowledge of the dangerous condition. Injuries may result from these unknown hazards. These injuries can range from broken bones, brain trauma, fractured back and neck injuries to name a few. You should not suffer any setbacks in your quality of life or loss of income for these injuries. You deserve to be fairly compensated for your losses.

- Trial

Jonathan Friedland is an experienced trial lawyer who is AV rated with Martindale-Hubbell, the highest rating a lawyer can receive. A trial lawyer is someone who is not afraid to try your case in front of a jury. Mr. Friedland has experience in trying over 75 jury trials in Florida State and Federal Courts. He has been rated among one of the top Florida accident lawyers in the personal injury field by the South Florida Legal Guide. Mr. Friedland has served as President of the Miami-Dade County Justice Association and is an Eagle Member of the Florida Academy of Justice. He holds prestigious membership in the American Board of Trial Advocates, an invitation only Association and is a member of the American Academy of Justice.
