Hamilton Harrison & Matthews is one of the oldest established law firms in Kenya, having been founded in 1902.


They have 8 partners, 2 consultants and 9 qualified assistants, supported by a staff of approximately 100 clerks, secretaries, computer operators, accounts, administration and general support staff.


Their modern office facilities include computerised word processing and accounting systems.


Their law library, which is constantly updated, contains not only all the material available on Kenya law, but also relevant law reports and reference works from elsewhere in the world.

Their clients include Kenyan and foreign banks and financial institutions, foreign investors and their Kenyan subsidiaries and branches, retailers, manufacturers, construction companies, oil companies, airlines, insurance companies, foreign embassies and missions, tour and travel operators and agents and hotel groups, religious and missionary organizations and international aid organizations. Partners serve on boards of public and charitable organisations and as directors of many public and private companies.

They operate in two - the Court Department which deals with all litigation and the Commercial and Conveyancing Department which deals with all non-litigation work. Normally work is allocated and supervised by the partner in charge of the department in which the work is done.
