Jayadeep Hari & Jamil, which was established in 1997, has a mission to change the negative perception of the traditional form of law firms in Malaysia - too formal, too distant and too far removed from clients’ day-to-day commercial needs. So, through our business we built a close relationship with clients; we educated ourselves with the knowledge, management philosophy and the business culture of our clients; we learnt the art of providing custom-made innovative and practical legal solutions to meet our clients’ needs. We set out and became in many ways, our clients’ “preferred legal partners”.

Over the years, we have worked very hard to achieve this mission and our constant striving for improvement has led us to grow from strength to strength. Today, we are seen as a young and dynamic legal firm operating in Kuala Lumpur, with branch offices in Selangor and Kelantan. With our team of lawyers, paralegals and support staff we handle a variety of work (which we loosely say as corporate and commercial, litigation and conveyancing) for several industries including rail, real estate, construction, healthcare, insurance, and information and communication technology.

Thinking back, we appreciate that beyond having legal solutions and efficient team members, it was equally important that we cared enough about everything that we did. We cared about our clients and their business, we cared about our employees and their well being, we cared about our environment and its preservation. JHJ was the pioneer in the Government’s initiative relating to the “MSC Telemedicine Flagship Application. Our team was engaged by the world-leading Telemedicine establishment for the purpose of brokering medical services and in providing e-health services to the public and private sectors, in Malaysia. This global establishment has its subsidiaries and associate companies involved in e-health products across Asia-Pacific with involvement in USA, Korea, Bermuda, Saudi Arabia, Singapore and Malaysia.

- Insurance and Takaful Practice

We have an equally active practice assisting private sector companies, including investment bankers and other investors, planning consultants and engineers, developers, contractors, operation and maintenance companies, transit and bus operators and material and equipment suppliers in their dealings with the public transportation sector and each other.

Our Transportation team has proficient knowledge on matters related to the transport industry, which extends to issues concerning industrial disputes. This team consists of lawyers with diversified and substantial experience who have held positions in transport related Government agencies.

- Construction

Jayadeep Hari & Jamil prepares and negotiates complex design and construction agreements, including “fast-track,” fixed price, cost plus, design-build, build-to-suit, and public and private venture contracts. In addition, we assist in creating and maintaining corporations, joint ventures and limited liability companies for construction projects.

Our Construction team deals with both non-contentious and contentious matters. Since we are very familiar with both domestic and international construction contract guidelines pursuant to FIDIC, we are able to offer a wide variety of construction legal advice and litigation services to clients in the construction industry and related businesses.
