• Prenuptial & Other Agreements
We work hard to draft agreements (including prenuptial, separation and postnuptial agreements) that work with your family's particular circumstances. Although these arrangements are often reached in an amicable manner, sometimes it is important to have someone that is protecting you and your interests. Let our knowledge and experience work for you and your family.
• EPO’s & DVO’s
This firm also assists clients with EPO's and DVO's. An EPO is an Emergency Protective Order. It is good for only fourteen (14) days during which time a hearing will be held on whether additional protection should be afforded to an individual. The next level of protection is obtaining a DVO (Domestic Violence Order), which may be issued by the Court after an EPO hearing at which both parties have an opportunity to appear. A DVO is valid for up to three (3) years and can be renewed by the Court.
- Business and Corporate Law
The form of business chosen for a business entity potentially affects every aspect of its operation. We assist clients in the business planning stage by deciding whether they want to operate as a closely held business, limited liability company, partnership, or corporation and in the formation of the chosen entity. We advise clients about directors' and officers' liability, dissolution, franchising, licensing, reorganization, trade association membership and activity, joint ventures, mergers, acquisitions, divestitures, business successions, and shareholder's rights.
- Trusts
Knowing how to leverage your estate using trusts may benefit your family after you are gone. John H. Ruby & Associates has enabled clients to leverage estate planning opportunities using trusts to distribute the maximum amount of assets to their beneficiaries. Trusts can often enable your loved ones to avoid probate and distribute your assets as you intend. We are experienced Louisville trusts attorneys and provide trust services to clients in Louisville and Jefferson County.
