Practice Areas Description
Kevin Zlock, P.C. offers legal services on the following practice areas:- Family Law & Divorce
At Kevin Zlock, P.C., our divorce lawyers and family law attorneys help clients through each step of the divorce process, while protecting their rights and interests. Our goal in every case is to help the client emerge from the process in the strongest position possible. We represent clients in all aspects of marital dissolution and related matters, including: Uncontested divorce; Contested divorce; Child custody and visitation; Child support; Spousal support; Division of marital assets; Protection from abuse; And others.
* Prenuptial Agreements
While preparing for your upcoming wedding, the last thing you want to think about is getting divorced. Yet signing a prenuptial agreement may be one of the most pragmatic things you do, even if you never have to use it. When you are about to get married, you think of your partner as your best friend, so you are much more likely to be amicable and fair than when you are about to get divorced, when you probably, albeit not always, think of your partner as your worst enemy. That being said, here are five things to consider when drafting a prenuptial agreement: Separate Property; Marital Property; Spousal Support/Alimony Pendente Lite/Alimony; Expenses during the marriage; Other rights under the Divorce Code.
* Property Division
Kevin Zlock, P.C. represents clients with small and large marital estates. We can assist you in the equitable distribution of your property, including: Retirement accounts – Dividing QDROs, Pensions, IRAs, 401K Plans; The Marital Home and additional real estate; Family operated or closely-held businesses; Stocks, mutual funds, and other investment assets; Personal property. There are many factors at play in determining how your property will be divided. This will require the designation of separate and marital (sometimes called “community”) property.
* Child Custody
We are persuasive advocates who will use the law and our knowledge to achieve optimal child custody arrangements. Often, we can negotiate a solution with the attorney for the other parent. However, we are prepared to assertively litigate, when it is necessary to protect the rights and interests of our clients. Whether it involves a temporary or permanent child custody arrangement, a modification in a custody order, a proposed parental relocation, or any other child custody matter, Kevin Zlock, P.C. will work to achieve your goals as a parent while protecting your interests and interests of your children.
* Child Support
The amount of child support can change over time to accommodate significant change in circumstances, such as changes in income, the child’s living arrangements, or the child’s medical or educational needs. In these situations, Kevin Zlock, P.C. can take action on your behalf to obtain a modification in your child support payment. For many years we have been representing clients in child support matters, such as: Establishment of the required child support level; Modifications in child support; Enforcement of child support orders; Collection of back child support; Contempt of child and spousal support order; Self-employment and child support.
* Domestic Violence
If you are being abused by someone with whom you live , be it your spouse, domestic partner or the parent of your children, we can help. If you are the victim of abuse, our lawyers can seek a protective order on your behalf, even if you have not filed for divorce or are not married at all. When filing for a Protection From Abuse or Restraining Order, we can seek child custody and financial relief for you. If you seek divorce or separation, we can advise you on matters of child custody and visitation, child support and spousal support simultaneously handling your abuse matter. There is absolutely no good reason for you to ever be forced to live in an environment filled with violence and fear.
* Adoptions
Most adoptions proceed with the assistance of an adoption agency. In those cases, our firm can prepare the necessary legal documents in an efficient manner. Our office is also experienced in handling private adoptions in which there is no agency involved. In those situations, we are able to act as an intermediary between the proposed adoptive parents and the birth parents. The lawyers at Kevin Zlock, P.C. have comprehensive knowledge of adoption law, and we can help you to navigate the complex adoption process and understand your rights and obligations under the law.
* Paternity
When a husband and wife have a child during a marriage, it is legally presumed that the husband is the father of the child. When an unmarried man and woman have a child, the father of the child must be established in accordance with applicable law. Mothers seeking an order of child support must establish paternity. Fathers seeking child custody or visitation rights must establish paternity as well. If you are seeking child support or opposing a child support order in a paternity proceeding, it is important to have adequate financial documentation. People who come to court unprepared will not be happy with the results of their case.
* Legal Separation
If you are getting a divorce in the state of Pennsylvania, it is important to keep records or evidence of any kind that may prove the date of your separation. If your divorce is contested, the date of your legal separation may become an important issue in negotiations or at trial. It is vital that you speak to a lawyer about your rights and responsibilities in a divorce before making any decision on moving out of marital residence and separating from your spouse. If, however, a decision was made prior to a consultation, we will be in a position to assist you with developing a comprehensive legal strategy on future steps in your divorce.
- Criminal Defense
If you have been charged with a crime or believe that you are being investigated for a crime, it is essential that you speak with an experienced defense attorney as quickly as possible. The attorneys at Kevin Zlock, P.C. are strong advocates for clients facing serious charges. We defend clients accused of misdemeanor and felony crimes such as: DUI/DWI; Traffic violations; Assault and battery; Domestic violence; Drug charges; Sex offenses; Burglary and robbery; Juvenile crimes and others.
* DUI & License Suspension
If you have you been arrested for drinking and driving in Pennsylvania, you should know that the state of Pennsylvania has strict DUI laws. An experienced criminal defense lawyer can help you protect your rights, your license and minimize the consequences of your arrest and charges against you. Our considerable experience allows us to quickly understand the issues associated with any criminal matter and seek the best possible result in your case. DUI arrest puts your driving record and your driver’s license in jeopardy.
- Personal Injury
Our lawyers assist victims of accidents and acts of negligence to obtain compensation for the injuries they have suffered. The cases we handle involve car and truck accidents, premises liability accidents, medical malpractice, worker’s compensation, defective products and others. Our goal is to maximize the compensation you receive, so that you can focus on your recovery to the fullest extent possible. We will also analyze the cause of the accident to determine the true source of liability. We will consult experts whose services might be relevant to your particular situation to build a solid foundation for your case.
