At the Law Office of Kim Smith, our attorney and attorney supervised advocates help parents to understand and protect the rights of a child or adolescent with a disability.We do this by advising and working with parents in the school system, county mental health agency, regional center or courts. Our office can offer IEP information, strategy and advice, review school documents, participate as part of an IEP Team, negotiate Behavior Intervention Plans (BIPs) and county mental health or regional center services, attend manifest determination meetings (as part of the expulsion process) or School Attendance Review Board (SARB) meetings. When necessary we can also represent a minor in juvenile or truancy court or seek conservatorships for a developmentally disabled adult.
