Practice Areas Description

Our practice areas include, but not limited to the following:

- DUI/Breathalyzer Refusal

DUI/Refusal in Rhode Island very well could be the most complicated system of laws in the state. Clients deserve an attorney capable of securing their rights when such charges are brought before the court. Above all, it is most important to know that one should not plead guilty to a DUI or breathalyzer refusal charge without the benefit of first hearing competent legal advice from an attorney. DUI convictions lead to more than just a mere inconvenience for the client/motorist; they carry potentially serious consequences because a DUI conviction and certain breathalyzer refusal convictions result in a criminal record for the motorist.

- Drug Crimes

Because medical marijuana is legal in Rhode Island, not everyone found possessing marijuana will be charged criminally. However, individuals found in possession of marijuana without a medical clearance may be penalized based on their location, the amount possessed, and their intent.

Conviction of a cocaine crime in Rhode Island carries with it some of the most severe penalties the state has to offer because Rhode Island takes possession and sale of drugs seriously.

- Firearms / Weapon Crimes

Rhode Island's statutes governing the possession use of firearms is called the "Firearms Act" and can be found in the Rhode Island General Laws Chapter 11, Section 47. In Rhode Island one may own a firearm without a license or special permit and carry such firearms to and from the home or place of business to a bona fide target range. However, Rhode Island has strict laws surrounding the carrying and use of firearms. Call right away if you’ve been arrested and charged with a firearms violation in Rhode Island.

- Property Crimes

Property crimes in Rhode Island include but are not limited to the following crimes: Arson, Burglary, Embezzlement, Larceny, Shoplifting and Vandalism. If you or a loved one has been charged with any of these crimes, call right away, and remember, please do not plead guilty to a crime unless you’ve first had the benefit of speaking with an attorney.

- Domestic Crimes

To sustain any domestic charge, the police or charging agency must demonstrate a domestic relationship exists between the alleged victim and alleged offender. Under Rhode Island Domestic statutes the following relationships qualify: Husband, Wife, Former spouses, Adults related by blood or marriage, Adults living together or who have lived together within the past three years, People having common children, and, In a significant dating relationship within the past year, as determined by the court.
