Practice Areas

Additional Practice Areas: Trucking Violation

Practice Areas Description

- Criminal Defense

A criminal conviction carries many serious consequences. Schools, financial lenders, and future employers may all have access to your permanent criminal record, limiting your future prospects severely. Also, you will be judged differently by your family, friends and community. You need a lawyer with experience to defend you from criminal charges.

- DWI

A conviction for DWI has serious consequences. Your first DWI conviction is a misdemeanor that will result in a life-long criminal record; your driver's license will be revoked; you will be required to pay an expensive fine of up to $1,000 (or up to $2,500 for an Aggravated DWI); you will be required to pay a DMV assessment of $750; you will likely face sharply higher insurance rates; you may lose your job; and you may be placed on probation or even face jail time.

- Drunk Driving Convictions

Many people are surprised to learn that a second conviction for driving drunk (DWI DUI DWAI) within 10 years of the previous conviction is a felony in New York, subject to severe penalties. The state takes DWI very seriously, and if you are facing a second or subsequent DWI charge, you need a lawyer with experience who will fight for your freedom.

- Traffic Tickets

If you have received a traffic ticket, don't make the mistake of simply pleading guilty and mailing your ticket back to the court. When you plead guilty, you are accepting all of the penalties associated with that conviction, including: any fines imposed by the court; the points that will be assessed against your driving record; any fees or Driver Responsibility Assessments imposed by DMV; increased insurance premiums; and the possible suspension or revocation of your driving privileges.

- Speeding Ticket

If you have received a speeding ticket, don't make the mistake of simply pleading guilty and mailing your ticket back to the court. When you plead guilty, you are accepting the penalties associated with that conviction, including: fines imposed by the court; points assessed against your driving record; any fees or Driver Responsibility Assessments imposed by DMV; increased insurance premiums; and the possible suspension or revocation of your driving privileges.

- CDL Violation

A Commercial Driver's License (CDL) is a different class of driver's license. For most people using a CDL, driving is their livelihood, and losing that license is a terrible loss. If you are a CDL driver facing a traffic violation, you need a lawyer with experience who can defend you aggressively so that you can keep your license and keep your livelihood.

- Aggravated Unlicensed

The name of the charge in New York is aggravated unlicensed operation (AUO), but the crime is driving with a suspended driver's license. As a misdemeanor, AUO is a more serious crime and carries greater penalties than a normal traffic violation. If you are facing charges of driving with a suspended driver's license, you need a lawyer who is tough and experienced.

- Defending Students Facing Misdemeanor or Felony Charges

Students accused of crimes face the threat of fines, probation or jail time. Depending on the charge, students also run the risk of jeopardizing their eligibility for financial aide, scholarships and employment prospects. A student arrested by campus police or security officials may also face an administrative disciplinary hearing that could result in temporary or permanent expulsion from school.

- Drug Crime

Whether you are facing a simple violation for unlawful possession of marijuana (UPM), or you have been charged with a serious misdemeanor or felony drug offense, the most important thing you can do to help win your case is to exercise your right to remain silent. Before you talk to the police or anyone else, get the advice of an experienced lawyer. I am available to personally speak with you 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.

- Shoplifting

If you have been charged with taking something from a store in the state of New York, the officer will call the crime "petit larceny" (or "petty larceny") in the formal charge. This is another word for shoplifting, a misdemeanor crime which, if you are convicted, will remain on your permanent criminal record. You need a lawyer to defend you from these charges.

- Personal Injury

Once you file an injury claim, you become the insurance company's adversary. They will do anything they can to minimize your claim. Don't make the common mistake of speaking with an insurance company claim representative before you consult with an experienced personal injury attorney. My office will aggressively pursue your injury claim to maximize your recovery.

- Car Accident

If you have been injured in a car accident, make sure that you understand all of your rights and obligations. What is a no-fault claim? How will your medical bills be paid for? Are there any time deadlines that you have to comply with? Do you need a referral to see a medical specialist? Who pays for your car rental?

- Slip and Fall

If you have been injured due to the negligence of a property owner, you may be entitled to payment for your losses, including: pain and suffering, past and future medical expenses, lost income, impairment of future earnings, and emotional damages.

- Dog Bite

A dog bite attack can cause serious physical and psychological injuries. Victims of dog bites are often young children, the elderly, or hard-working delivery people simply trying to do their job. You should never be expected to pay the price for injuries caused by an irresponsible dog owner.
