- Immigration

- Family Law

In France, the law of 26 May 2004, which came into force on 1 January 2005, completely overhauled the existing divorce procedures with a view to making them simpler, more effective and, above all, less conflict-ridden. In Belgium, family law also changed on 1 September 2007, in the same way. In response to this trend, the firm assists clients—including in jurisdictional (France) and legal aid (Belgium) situations—with disputes in the following areas: In France, divorce by mutual consent, fault-based divorce, divorce by petition and divorce on the ground of irretrievable breakdown; in Belgium, de facto separation, divorce by mutual agreement and divorce on specific grounds. The firm also litigates non-marriage-related issues (adoptions, petitions to reduce child support, custody rights, name changes) and estate-related matters (marital property system changes).
