Law Firm Overview

Lexial is the first "boutique" law firm of professional immigration law in Brussels and Paris, with an extension newly set up in Geneva (Switzerland) and Doha (Qatar). The firm's unique approach had resulted in a narrow focus on citizenship and residency matters, professional immigration, work permit, professional card for independent people, work contract for foreign people, special "wealthy" cards and tax optimization. Within this framework, the firm developed privileged relationships with Middle-East and Asian countries, companies and citizens. A small selection of traditional legal services are also provided in labour, criminal, business, insurance and family law.

FAQ - As the firm does not provide any free consultations by phone, please check our articles published on this site about citizenship and professional card. You can submit your case and ask a proposal for fees by e-mail bxl@lexial.eu. An on-line form will be soon available.

Practice Areas

Practice Areas Description

- Immigration

In Brussels, Paris, Geneva and Doha, Lexial is the leading firm in the field of professional immigration for expatriated executives in assisting their employers in various steps for obtaining an authorization of occupation and a work permit, or in setting up a special tax regime for foreign executives, as well as in all legal aspects of the employment relationship and of daily life for these high level employees. The firm also provides an assistance in view of obtaining Belgian or French citizenship, residency and professional card for independent activity.

- Labour Law

Lexial assists and advises employers with regard to all issues encountered in their relations with their employees, such as the pre-contract negotiation of working conditions, the signing of the employment contract, or the termination of the employment contract. For contract terminations, the firm can negotiate a settlement or litigate on behalf of clients (before the industrial tribunal in France or the labour court in Belgium). The firm can also assist clients seeking to optimize their compensation, especially in an international situation resulting from a temporary assignment or expatriation. More generally, the firm has also developed expertise in the area of supplementary employee benefit schemes, both national and international.

- Criminal Law

Criminal law is one of the firm’s traditional areas of practice. The firm assists individuals who have been the victims of crime as well as those who have been accused at all stages of criminal procedure.

- Business, corporate and industry

Lexial provides day-to-day assistance in a number of areas, including new business start-ups, business management and business transfers. The firm has created a dedicated cost-controlled package specifically for SMEs, SME Solutions, which facilitates the budgeting of legal fees for smaller businesses that require day-to-day legal support. Please contact us to learn more about this solution.

- Family Law

In France, the law of 26 May 2004, which came into force on 1 January 2005, completely overhauled the existing divorce procedures with a view to making them simpler, more effective and, above all, less conflict-ridden. In Belgium, family law also changed on 1 September 2007, in the same way. In response to this trend, the firm assists clients—including in jurisdictional (France) and legal aid (Belgium) situations—with disputes in the following areas: In France, divorce by mutual consent, fault-based divorce, divorce by petition and divorce on the ground of irretrievable breakdown; in Belgium, de facto separation, divorce by mutual agreement and divorce on specific grounds. The firm also litigates non-marriage-related issues (adoptions, petitions to reduce child support, custody rights, name changes) and estate-related matters (marital property system changes). Of course, the firm also possesses experience in the international aspects of divorce (jurisdiction, conflicting laws) and the regulation of parental relations.
