Thank you for your interest in my professional experience and credentials as a lawyer, arbitrator and mediator with more than thirty years of experience.
I have substantial experience in labour relations, human rights, criminal law, health law, professional regulation, insurance law, agricultural law, constitutional law and municipal government.
As a trial and appeal lawyer, I have represented individuals, businesses, unions, non-profit organizations and government agencies in all manner of cases before all levels of courts and regulatory tribunals in Nova Scotia as well as before the Federal Court of Canada and the Federal Court of Appeal.
I have advised and represented both employers and unions, as well as individual employees, on employment and labour law issues like wrongful dismissal, the duty to accommodate, collective bargaining, grievance arbitrations, Human Rights cases, unfair labour practices, harassment cases, the duty of fair representation and the like.
As a neutral arbitrator and mediator, I bring all of this experience to resolve private disputes and labour grievances in a respectful and cost-effective manner. I am also the Chair of the Nova Scotia Election Commission.
