Marvin and Marvin is a small town firm with big city sophistication and experience behind it. Our client base spans from individuals to large corporations. Marvin and Marvin has two locations, in Rhinebeck, and Pawling, both in Dutchess County, New York. With over 60 years in practice, our history in the region, as well as our knowledge of local courts, regional banking, and real estate agents gives us a unique advantage over other firms with less experience. The Marvin presence in the Hudson Valley began in 1956 when Robert Marvin, Sr., moved his young family from Brooklyn, New York to Rhinebeck, NY.

In 1992, Mr. Marvins son, John, joined the practice after spending several years honing his skills as an associate at
large firms in New York City and Stamford, Connecticut. John brought with him considerable experience in commercial and personal injury litigation and, upon coming to Rhinebeck, expanded his practice to include banking and real estate. John now splits his time evenly between litigation and real estate and banking.

Shortly after John returned to the Hudson Valley, Robert (Bob) Marvin, Jr. also decided to migrate north, to Pawling, New York. Bob worked for many years handling both personal injury and commercial litigation in New York City for Davis, Markel & Edwards, a sophisticated boutique law firm.

In July, 1995, Bob opened an office in Pawling, New York. From the Pawling location, Bob continued his practice of commercial and personal injury litigation and also branched out into real estate as well as litigation concerning trusts and estates in the Surrogate Courts.

With Bob, Sr. and John in Rhinebeck, and Bob, Jr. in Pawling, the Marvins were positioned to provide legal services for clients in both the Hudson and Harlem Valleys. And they have been doing just that since 1995.

In 2005, Robert Marvin Sr. took of-counsel status at Marvin and Marvin. He now concentrates his practice on assisting the firm in plaintiff personal injury cases, where he has considerable experience. Whenever Bob, Jr. or John are in Court, the first question often asked by the presiding judge is “How’s your father?”
