Law Firm Overview

Phoebus, Christos Clerides & Associates LLC has a history of some 50 years and more. The Law Practice goes back to the early 1950’s. It was setup by Mr. Phoebus N. Clerides Barrister-at-law, of Lincoln΄s Inn. Phoebus Clerides comes from a well known family of teachers, lawyers, politicians. His father was a well known author and teacher from Agros village. First cousin to Glafkos Clerides ex President of the Republic. Phoebus is the brother of Lefkos Clerides also a Barrister-at-Law and Senior Counsel, ex Minister of Justice and ex President of the Cyprus Bar. Phoebus was also a Minister of Justice 1983-1985 and a Member of the House of Representatives. He served in the Cyprus Regiment during the Second World War. Though he is now retired he is still a valuable consultant to our firm.

His son Dr. Christos Clerides joined the practice in 1982 with his sister Maro Cleridou - Tsiappa now in the Office of the Attorney General as Attorney of the Republic. The practice was carried out under Phoebus Clerides & Co. Years later, the firm started cooperating with Neophytos Pirilides law firm in Limassol and still does until today. In 2009 the firm formed a Lawyers' Limited Company and was re-named Phoebus, Christos Clerides & Associates LLC. Many young and aspiring pupil advocates did their year of training with Phoebus, Christos Clerides and Associates and still do so.

Phoebus, Christos Clerides & Associates LLC has its main offices in Nicosia but has associates in Limassol/Larnaca/Paphos districts. Our law firm covers the whole of Cyprus and has a wide practice at the Supreme Court and District Court Level. Further, we are known for our long experience and participation in high profile cases in the European Court of Human Rights. The younger generation is now joining the firm. Dr. Clerides’ daughter joined the firm in 2007 after finishing her LLB and LLM at the University College of London (UCL) in the UK. His older son is also currently studying law in the UK and will soon be joining.
