We have the flexibility to deal with both small and large cases, tailoring our representation to untangle and simplify contract negotiations; and to solve disputes. We provide expert legal advice for the most complex issues as required by our clients, within their budget.
The areas of expertise of our lawyers complement each other. As individuals we excel in our particular areas of specialization. As a team, however, we provide to our clients strong and comprehensive legal services across national and international platforms. Internationally, we have established a network of foreign legal colleagues in territories like China; Hong Kong; Indonesia; Thailand; Australia; the United States of America; Taiwan; and the EU. We also have an associated office in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.
Although a full service corporation, SAMUEL SEOW LAW CORPORATION takes pride in being one of the few firms in Singapore with a practice group dedicated to the laws of entertainment, art and the media.
In this regard our capabilities include
Transactional capabilities. We provide a full range of core services to our entertainment and media clients – which today include major television studios and networks; production companies; advertising agencies; theatre groups and dance ensembles; performers, screenwriters and other creatives; financiers; distributors and end-users; and managers and agents. We represent our clients in all aspects of the production, financing and distribution of films, television programs and other audio-visual entertainment, as well as associated literary and dramatic property issues and related merchandising. We provide similar services in the music recording, music publishing, book publishing, advertising, fine arts and Internet sectors.
Tax Structuring and corporate services. Although the Practice Group is known primarily for its expertise and status as one of Singapore’s busiest, it also possesses substantial skills and experience in other more general legal areas such as: corporate law including shareholder and partnership agreements.
Litigation capabilities. In addition to our transactional capabilities, we litigate in all areas, including contract, accounting, copyright, trade mark, trade secret, privacy, publicity, name and likeness, and Internet-related disputes. The familiarity of our lawyers with the international entertainment and media industries makes us especially effective and efficient not only in such litigation, but also in managing media exposure when such litigation arises.
Financing and network building. In addition to the foregoing, we are unique and are known for our abilities to make projects happen. As our lawyers are familiar with the practical aspects of the industry and have, through the years, established firm relationships with industry players across the entire spectrum around the globe, we frequently afford to our clients the very tangible benefits of partnering with local and international individuals, corporations and financiers to make their dream projects come true.
