Smith Rayl Law Office, LLC has two offices to better serve its clients.The Criminal Defense Division, located in Indianapolis, Indiana, is led by Attorney Susan Rayl. Susan started her legal career working with Indianapolis criminal defense attorney Richard Kammen at McClure, McClure, and Kammen, first as a law clerk while she was in law school and, after she graduated, as an associate attorney. Susan then spent several years in her own practice, doing criminal defense appeals for the Office of the Marion County (Indiana) Public Defender. In 2009, she joined Mikes practice, and the firms name was changed to Smith Rayl Law Office, LLC. Smith Rayl's Criminal Defense Division handles felonies, misdemeanors, appeals, and traffic offenses.
The Business Law Division, located in Fishers, Indiana, is led by Attorney Michael Ray Smith. Mike opened the Fishers office (originally as Michael Smith Law Office, LLC) shortly after he elected to retire early from a position as in-house counsel at the international pharmaceutical research and manufacturing company, Eli Lilly and Company. He worked in the Company's Law Division for more than 14 years, completing assignments in environmental law, securities, and commercial transactions. The bulk of Mikes work in commercial transactions was in support of the Company's global procurement organization, where he worked on strategic sourcing initiatives, outsourcing arrangements, and other transactions in everything from research services, to marketing services, to manufacturing services, to construction services. Prior to becoming an attorney, Mike worked for more than 13 years as a chemical engineer in manufacturing and process development assignments, including an assignment as department head of biochemical engineering. Smith Rayl's Business Law Division has practice areas in business organizations, business transactions, and nonprofit organizations.
