Law Firm Overview
Free Consultation
Stephen T. Holman, P.A., is a law firm that focuses on family matters. Their attorneys have nearly five decades of experience representing clients in matters of divorce and family law. Although we represent an almost equal number of men and women in child custody, paternity and child support matters, our law firm has developed a focus on advocating fathers’ rights in divorce and family law issues, because we believe the best parenting requires both parents!
When children are involved, we encourage clients to settle their disputes out of court whenever possible in order to save time, money and emotional stress. However, many conflicts can’t be resolved without litigation. When that happens, you can rely on our law firm’s extensive courtroom experience.
Our Florida divorce attorneys are dedicated to our clients. We don’t play games with the law or with the opposing party. Withholding or distorting information, and other combative tactics only serve to escalate conflicts, not resolve them. We believe our clients have a greater likelihood of a favorable result and lower legal fees because we refuse to participate in such gamesmanship.

Practice Areas Description
The family law and divorce attorneys at the law firm of Stephen T. Holman, P.A. represent clients in a broad range of legal concerns:- Divorce
A divorce can be a dramatic change in your life. It’s often a highly emotional time that can be filled with acrimony and retribution. Many people feel extremely vulnerable during this time of transition. The compassionate Pensacola divorce lawyers at Stephen T. Holman, P.A., will advocate for your best interests throughout the divorce process. We will not allow your spouse to take advantage of you.
- Military Divorce
Military families make enormous sacrifices for our country. Sadly, one of those sacrifices involves their personal lives. Military marriages have unfortunately become one of the many casualties of war. The number of divorces in the U.S. Army nearly doubled from 2001 to 2004, according to the U.S. Department of Defense.
- Property Division
Property division is often one of the most highly contested matters in a divorce. Each side wants to receive his or her "fair share" of marital assets, 401(k) retirement plans, stocks and property holdings accumulated during the marriage. Protecting your right to a fair equitable distribution of your marital property is very important. The assets you receive will help you build the foundation for your new life.
- Alimony/Spousal Support
Our Pensacola alimony lawyers have nearly five decades of experience negotiating and litigating fair alimony agreements for our divorcing clients. Whether you need spousal support or would prefer to minimize your exposure to an award of spousal support, we will aggressively represent your interests.
- Domestic Violence
Have you been a victim of spousal abuse? Do you need a restraining order to protect you and your children from an abusive spouse? Conversely, have you been wrongfully accused of committing an act of domestic violence? We can help. At the Pensacola, Florida, law office of Stephen T. Holman, P.A., we recognize domestic violence impacts people in all walks of life. It doesn’t matter if you live in a trailer park or a mansion on a hill.
- Child Custody
What will happen to the children? Where will they live? How often will I be able to see my children? These are just some of the many questions and concerns divorcing parents face. At the law office of Stephen T. Holman, P.A., we can help you to answer difficult questions related to child custody and visitation. With nearly five decades of experience helping our clients uphold the best interests of their children, our child custody attorneys have come to believe the best parenting requires both parents.
- Fathers’ Rights
You will be your children’s father forever! You have the right as a parent to participate in their lives, and they have a right to see you even if you were never married to their mother. In the past, it was wrongfully assumed that children were always better off with their mother. Today we realize that a father’s role in his children’s lives is equally as important as the mother’s. Florida law no longer gives one gender preference over the other in child custody matters. The primary concern is the best interest of the children.
- Paternity
Under Florida law, minor children have the right to an ongoing relationship with BOTH parents, whether or not the parents were ever married to one another. As a parent, you have the right to participate in your child’s life, and the responsibility to contribute to his or her financial and emotional well-being.
- Relocation Issues
Your former spouse drops the bomb: She’s getting remarried and moving out of state. Alternatively, you are the bombardier: You get the dream job you’ve always wanted, but it means relocating to the West Coast. What happens to the custody and visitation arrangements you so carefully and painstakingly worked out as part of your divorce?
- Modification of Custody
When parents separate or divorce, legal arrangements are made for child custody, visitation, child support, and in some cases alimony. The court recognizes that circumstances may change. What was fair and equitable at the time of the divorce may no longer be so today. If you or your former spouse has had a substantial change of circumstance occur, such as the loss of a job or a substantial increase or decrease in income, it may be appropriate to revisit your child support or alimony arrangements.
- Child Support and Child Support Modification
In the state of Florida, child support payments are generally determined by state guidelines. Both parents' income, the number of children in the family and certain expenses, such as daycare and health insurance premiums, are put through a child support calculation formula to determine the amount one parent must provide to care for his or her children. In fact, Florida law has recently been amended with respect to how child support will be calculated beginning October 1, 2010.
- Enforcement of Orders
After a highly contested divorce, it is not unusual for a former spouse to choose not to comply with alimony, custody or child support orders. Whether out of spite or due to financial concerns, he or she does not obey the court's rulings. In these circumstances, it may become necessary, for the stability of both you and your children, to enforce a court order.
- Prenuptial/Postnuptial Agreements
The term "prenuptial agreement" has taken on an undeserved negative connotation in today's society. In reality, a prenuptial or antenuptial agreement is simply a legal document that protects both spouses and their premarital property should their marriage come to an end. At the Pensacola, Florida, law firm of Stephen T. Holman, P.A., we place a strong importance on the establishment of a prenuptial agreement. Although neither spouse wants to believe their marriage will end, having a prenuptial agreement in place can protect assets, simplify the divorce process and reduce costs for both parties if the event either party seeks to dissolve their marriage.
