I am Steven E. Blumenthal, a family law attorney, mediator and parenting coordinator located in Hollywood, Florida, serving Broward, Dade and Palm Beach Counties. My practice areas include: divorce, child custody or time-sharing as it is called now in Florida, child support, alimony, equitable distribution or property division; valuation and division of businesses, and investment and retirement accounts (I have experience valuing and dividing military or law enforcement pensions or retirement accounts); modification or enforcement of child support, time-sharing, custody, alimony and property divisions or awards; pre- and post-nuptial agreements, separation agreements; paternity cases, domestic violence cases and dependency cases. Dependency cases involve situations where the Florida Department of Children and Families has become involved with a family or removed a child from the home.

My experience and background also include working as a Licensed Marriage & Family Therapist and Qualified Supervisor for therapists in training in Florida. I am a Florida Supreme Court Certified Family Mediator and Florida Qualified Parenting Coordinator.

I believe in using “alternative dispute resolution” approaches whenever that is possible – e.g. Mediation, Parenting Coordination and Collaborative Family Law, and in settling cases outside of court and before trial whenever possible. I also maintain an active family law litigation practice for adversarial cases, and litigation remains the bulk of my practice.
