Michael W. Eaton, a fifth-generation Texan and a fourth-generation Texas lawyer, is an active member of The Eaton Law Firm, PLLC, a Southlake, Texas law firm serving a diverse clientele in Texas and throughout the nation. Mr. Eaton has a background which includes representation of clients as varied as independent oil producers, country club development companies, Internet service providers, churches, and other non-profit organizations. Current clients include local and national non-profit organizations, real estate developers, lenders, property management companies, construction contractors, and a variety of other businesses. Mr. Eaton is a leader in representation of organizations active in acquisition and development of affordable housing, and he represents more than two dozen Community Housing Development Organizations (CHDOs). Mr. Eaton has significant experience in forming and advising non-profit organizations, in gaining tax exemption determinations for such groups from the I.R.S. and state taxing authorities, and in representation of parties in federal, state, and local tax controversies.Mr. Eaton is a frequent lecturer at Continuing Legal Education seminars, and is an active volunteer with the Texas Lawyers Assistance Program. Mr. Eaton is a Past President of the Dallas Chapter of Lawyers Concerned for Lawyers, and serves as an Attorney Monitor for the Texas Board of Law Examiners and as an Attorney Monitor for the Office of Chief Disciplinary Counsel of the State Bar of Texas. In addition to his professional business and legal activities, Mr. Eaton has taught Constitutional Law at the University of Texas-Dallas, as well as Government, Economics, and Statistics classes at multiple campuses in the University of Texas System and at local community colleges. Mr. Eaton’s contributions to delivery of legal services to low-income Texans have earned him recognition by induction into the Pro Bono College of the State Bar of Texas. Mr. Eaton has also been admitted into the College of the State Bar of Texas, an honorary society created by the Supreme Court of Texas to recognize attorneys dedicated to maintaining exceptional levels of continuing legal education.
