Shawn Murray graduated from St. Martin's Episcopal High School in Metairie, Louisiana in 1983, and then from Louisiana State University, with a Bachelor's degree in Psychology, in 1987. He then worked as a counselor for the Louisiana Department of Social Services, St. Jude Hospital, River Oaks Hospital and St. Charles Parish Hospital before beginning law school at Tulane University in August of 1996. Receiving his law degree and passing the bar in 1999, Shawn Murray has been fighting hard for injured people ever since. Shortly after graduation from Tulane, Mr. Murray began practicing law with the Chehardy, Sherman Law Firm in Metairie, primarily handling Workers' Compensation and Personal Injury cases. After 4 years he moved to Covington, and gained a keen understanding of how the insurance companies think and the kinds of things they do in order to avoid paying claims, when he joined the insurance defense firm of Rabalais, Unland & Lorio, exclusively defending Workers Compensation cases.
In October of 2005 Mr. Murray began the Law Firm of Shawn M. Murray, focusing exclusively on representing people who have been seriously injured or killed while working. His office is now located one block from the Causeway Bridge in Mandeville, at 450 N. Causeway Boulevard.
Mr. Murray is a member of the American Bar Association, the American Association for Justice, the Federal Bar Association, the Louisiana State Bar Association, the New Orleans Bar Association, the Greater Covington Bar Association, the Workers Injury Law & Advocacy Group and Louisiana Workers Advocates. Mr. Murray is admitted to practice before all Louisiana state and federal courts, and he is also currently serving as Board Chair for the Mental Health Association of St. Tammany ("MHAST").
