Marine insurance disputes where the policy is subject to English law and practice either handling the dispute itself or advising on coverage issues.Commercial Litigation: We can handle complex disputes either in New Zealand or overseas managing local lawyers from our network of correspondent lawyers.
Charterparty disputes where the charterparty is governed by English law and London Arbitration is provided for in the charterparty.
Recoveries: Thomas & Co would be delighted to assist in handling recoveries against third parties, Tony having over 30 years experience in this area. Our aim will be to achieve results through negotiation rather than confrontation, through relationships built over the years with P&I Clubs in London and carriers around the world, for example, Maersk Sealand.
CMR or road transportation claims where the contract is subject to English law and jurisdiction or where English jurisdiction is compulsorily applicable. We can also instruct lawyers in other European jurisdictions to handle or work with us on such cases.
Arbitration in London. We can commence and run arbitrations, if necessary appointing an arbitrator in order to protect time and then running the arbitration, instructing counsel andor experts as the need arises.
Ship building repair contracts. Many standard form contracts provide for English law and London Arbitration. Thomas & Co can advise both on contract formation and any disputes arising from such contracts.
