Law Firm Overview
Zaki Hashem & Partners, one of the largest firms in Egypt and the entire Middle East, was established in 1953 to be the oldest and the leading law firm in Egypt with a modern partnership form. It was founded by former Cabinet Minister Dr. Zaki Hashem who held the post of president of the Egyptian Society of International Law for a decade and continues to be its honorary president. The firm comprises of around forty five fee earners.In the 50’s, the primary focus of the Firm was corporate law, international business transactions and agreements related to the oil and gas industry. In the 50 years since its founding, the Firm has widely expanded its areas of expertise as indicated above, particularly in the international corporate sector. Among the early achievements of the Firm was the incorporation of Pfizer Egypt in 1956, the first American company to receive authorization from the Egyptian Government pursuant to Investment Law No. 153 of 1956. In 1963, the Firm obtained for Phillips Petroleum the first Petroleum Concession Agreement granted to an American company.
