Areas of Law
Areas of Law Description
Berman Barristers offers legal service on the following areas:
- Contested Divorce
A combination of online automation and coaching, Berman Barristers offers its clients the money-saving option of self-representing with or without assistance and advice. For people that find themselves self-representing, Berman Barristers is offering its "Innovative Divorce Solutions" of:
• Automated Court Forms & Agreements
• Law Clerk Coaching
• Lawyer Coaching
* Lawyer Representation
If you are in a situation that involves complicated issues such as child custody, spousal support, or income and property valuation, etc., then you may need to have an experienced Family Lawyer fully represent you. The problem is that the cost of retaining a lawyer to represent you traditionally requires you to pay costly retainers and maintain unpredictable hourly rates.
- Uncontested Divorce
If all you want is a divorce and you and your spouse don't have issues involving child custody, spousal support, income and property valuation, etc., then the free Uncontested Divorce Application is what you need. As a public service and in keeping with our commitment to facilitate access to the Courts, we are offering complimentary access to our sister-site, MyOntarioDivorce.com.
- Contracts & Agreements
* Separation Agreements
Whether you are married or living common law, if your relationship is beyond repair but you have agreed on issues involving child custody, spousal support, income and property valuation, etc., then you should reflect your agreement in writing by way of a formal Separation Agreement. Issues typically included in Separation Agreements include:
• Ownership or division of property
• Support obligations
• Children's issues, including the right to custody and access
• Any other matter in settlement (excluding possession of a matrimonial home)
* Cohabitation Agreements
A couple who is living together, or intends to live together, may enter into a Cohabitation Agreement that covers their respective rights and obligations while they cohabit and in the event of their marriage or separation. Upon marriage, this Agreement becomes their Marriage Contract, unless stipulated to the contrary in the Agreement.
* Marriage Contracts
A couple who is married, or intends to marry, may enter in a Marriage contract (sometimes referred to as a "Prenuptial Agreement") that covers their respective rights and obligations while they are married and in the event of their separation or death.
