- Auto Accident Cases

Pinder Legal Team has seen more auto insurers routinely deny accident injury claims in the past ten years. They often argue that "if a car isn't damaged, how could drivers or passengers, protected by seat belts and airbags, claim any harm?" In fact, GEICO will often send you what Attorney Edward Pinder calls a "Kiss-Off" letter refusing to pay for any injuries where the property damage is less than $1,000.00. Allstate and State Farm are no better. Each of those insurers have dozens of lawyers in their local Baltimore offices who do nothing but take these cases to trial. Atty. Ed Pinder knows the insurers' tactics, and also understands the seriousness of slow-speed accident injuries.

- Criminal/Traffic Charges

For over 23 years, I have been representing individuals charged with criminal and traffic charges. Just because a District Court Commissioner or Police Officer believes there was probable cause does not always mean they are right on that issue. I am no longer surprised by the number of traffic cases where the MVA has messed up the records. I am also aware that in some criminal cases a person just happens to be in the wrong place at the wrong time, and is innocent. In my experience, most clients who are charged with a criminal offense or traffic charge are truly sorry and want to “do the right thing”. They are responsible, hardworking people who just made an error of judgment which led to the charges.

- Estate Planning Basic Documents

As part of having a community practice, I also offer basic estate planning documents. Because estate planning allows an individual to ensure that his or her property will go to the people he or she wants, in the way he or she wants, and when he or she wants, it is important for everyone, even if an estate is likely to be small, to have an estate plan. An estate plan can help to reduce tax liabilities, court costs, and attorneys' fees, and it can also make it easier for families to cope with the administrative and financial issues that arise after the loss of family members. Documents relating to medical care can also be part of an estate plan.

- Wills

A will is a document which can give you the power to control how your property is disposed of when you die. But, it makes a big difference how your property is titles. A Will controls only those items of property which are: titles solely in your name; and are maintained without any beneficiary designation. On the other hand, jointly titled property and property titled with a beneficiary designation usually passes outside the operation of a Will, and goes directly to the joint owner(s) or the beneficiary. The most notable exception is real estate titles jointly as "Tenants in Common."

- Workers' Compensation

Making a claim for Workers' Compensation may oftentimes become complicated. Frequently, the employer's insurance company which controls benefits does not agree with you or your doctor's opinion of the treatment you need, or your need to remain off work for a time. That's when an attorney can assist you by pursuing your claim with the Maryland Worker's Compensation Commission. The Commission has the authority to order the insurance company to pay benefits that you are entitled to have.
