In 1996, attorneys Robert A. Smith and Jane Ellen Doran each left the security of working in a large law firm in order to start a firm that could provide clients with large-firm capability with more personable, responsive service. Now entering their 34th and 25th years of practice respectively, our founding attorneys and the firms other partners, associates and staff remain dedicated to fulfilling this mission.

Mr. Smith and Ms. Doran were well established in the legal communities of northern New Jersey before they opened this practice. The firm has received the AV rating since it opened in 1996. In addition, Mr. Smith has satisfied the rigorous requirements set forth by the New Jersey Supreme Court and has been a Certified Civil Trial Attorney since 1987.

With success comes the opportunity to grow. While our firm continues to embrace change, we have deliberately chosen to remain relatively modest in size so that we can stay true to our ideals of personal service. Today, we have six attorneys and an excellent complement of support staff assisting them in maintaining that commitment.
