The Office of the Attorney General provides legal representation to the State of Idaho. This representation is furnished to the State's agencies in the furtherance of the State's legal interests, not the personal interests of individual citizens. The State's chief legal officer, the Attorney General, meets his constitutional and statutory responsibilities through the efforts of eight divisions: Civil Litigation Division; Consumer Protection Division; Contracts and Administrative Law Division; Criminal Law Division; Human Services Division; Natural Resources Division; Administration and Budget Division; and Office Statistics.

The governor is vested with the supreme executive power. He appoints department heads and members of boards and commissions. The governor issues executive orders which have the force and effect of law. The governor drafts and recommends a budget to the state legislature. On extraordinary occasions the governor can convene special sessions of the legislature. He must give final approval, by signing bills passed by the legislature. He has the power to veto bills but must list his objections. Commander-in-chief of the military forces, except when they are called into actual service of the U.S. He is President of the Board of Examiners and Chairman of the Board of Land Commissioners.

The official duties of the Lt. Governor are to preside over the Idaho State Senate when it is in session; to fill in for the governor when he is out of the state; and, to perform such duties as the governor may deem necessary for the good of the state. In the event that the Governor is no longer able to fulfill his duties as executive leader of the state, the Lieutenant Governor will step in to assume those duties.

The mission of the Secretary of State is to serve the citizens and business community of Idaho by overseeing the election process, facilitating business activity, and providing timely and accurate information.

The state controller is the chief fiscal officer of the state of Idaho, responsible for:; maintaining all accounting and financial records; paying all the state’s bills and employees; preparing the state’s annual financial report; an operating the state’s Computer Service Center.

Idaho is a state in the Pacific Northwest region of the United States. The state's largest city and capital is Boise. Residents are called "Idahoans." Idaho is an important agricultural state, producing nearly one-third of the potatoes grown in the United States.

The Idaho State Treasurer operates as the chief financial officer and banker of monies collected by Idaho. Duties include receiving all state monies, redeeming warrants, accounting for the receipt and disbursement of public funds, investing idle state monies, issuing state tax anticipation notes, investing local government and agency monies and acting as custodian for worker’s compensation insurance securities on deposit with the state and custodian of the Endowment Public School Income Fund.

The Superintendent of Public Instruction heads the Idaho Department of Education.

The Office of Performance Evaluations (OPE) is a nonpartisan, independent office that serves the Legislature by evaluating whether state government programs and agencies are operating efficiently, could operate more cost-effectively, and are achieving intended results. OPE conducts all reviews in response to direction from an equally bipartisan committee of the Legislature, the Joint Legislative Oversight Committee (JLOC). OPE's reviews are used by the Legislature to make policy and budget decisions, and by agencies to improve performance.

The Idaho Legislature is the state legislature of the U.S. state of Idaho. It consists of the upper Idaho Senate and the lower Idaho House of Representatives. The Idaho Senate contains 35 Senators, who are elected from 35 districts. The Idaho House of Representatives consists of 70 Representatives, who are elected from the same 35 legislative districts, with 2 being elected from each constituency. There are no term limits for either chamber. The crossing of upper and lower house districts into a single constituency is found in only seven U.S. state legislatures.

These rules are for the purpose of administering and supervising the unified and integrated Idaho judicial system by the Supreme Court pursuant to Article V, Section 2, of the Constitution of the State of Idaho. These rules shall supplement all other rules of procedure adopted by the Supreme Court and may be abbreviated as the "Idaho Court Administrative Rules," (I.C.A.R.).

The Idaho Judicial Branch includes of: the Idaho Supreme Court; the Idaho Court of Appeals; the 7 Idaho District Courts; the Idaho Drug Court; the Idaho Mental Health Court; Family Court Services; the Idaho Judiciary Data Repository; the Youth Courts; and the Judiciary Data Repository.

Idaho Bureau of Homeland Security is a Division of the Idaho Military Division. The services they provide are to facilitate emergency management in Idaho, and to assist neighboring states. The men and women of this Division are dedicated to their mission of protecting the lives and property of the people of Idaho, as well as preserving the environmental and the economic health of Idaho.

The Idaho Department of Correction provides incarceration facilities for adult felons sentenced by the courts, presentence reports for the courts, and supervision services for probationers and parolees. The department operates a central administrative office, eight correctional institutions, four community work centers, and 22 probation/parole district and satellite offices.

The Idaho State Department of Education is organized into six divisions: the Division of Assessment; the Division of Innovation and School Choice; the Division of School Support Service; the Division of Finance, Child Nutrition and Student Transportation; the Division of Student Achievement and School Accountability; and the Division of Communications and Government Affairs.

DEQ is a state department created by the Idaho Environmental Protection and Health Act to ensure clean air, water, and land in the state and protect Idaho citizens from the adverse health impacts of pollution. As a regulatory agency, DEQ enforces various state environmental regulations and administers a number of federal environmental protection laws including the Clean Air Act, the Clean Water Act, and the Resource Conservation and Recovery Act.

The mission of aggressively promote access to vigorous, healthy and comprehensive financial services for Idaho citizens. This is accomplished through prudent and efficient oversight of financial institutions, investment opportunities, and credit transactions. Through administration of laws enacted by the Idaho Legislature, legitimate financial transactions are encouraged, while fraud, unsafe practices, and unlawful conduct are detected and appropriate enforcement action is taken.

The Mission Statement of the Department of Fish and Games: "All wildlife, including all wild animals, wild birds, and fish, within the state of Idaho, is hereby declared to be the property of the state of Idaho. It shall be preserved, protected, perpetuated, and managed. It shall be only captured or taken at such times or places, under such conditions, or by such means, or in such manner, as will preserve, protect, and perpetuate such wildlife, and provide for the citizens of this state and, as by law permitted to others, continued supplies of such wildlife for hunting, fishing and trapping."

The Department of Health and Welfare offers programs that deal with complex social, economic and individual issues, often helping people in crisis situations. Their programs are designed to strengthen families and promote self-reliance. They receive requests every day for assistance with food or medical insurance. They help others with child care, child support and substance abuse problems. Throughout the state, they are at the forefront of protecting public health.

The Department of Insurance (DOI) is a regulatory agency created to regulate the business of insurance in Idaho. The mission of DOI is to equitably, effectively and efficiently administer the Idaho Insurance Code and the International Fire Code. DOI fulfills its mission and duties through three regulatory bureaus (Company Activities Bureau, Consumer Services Bureau, and the State Fire Marshall) and an administrative group consisting of the director's office and the supporting services bureau.

Under the current leadership of the courts, and state and county governments, the juvenile justice system exists today in an effort to provide community protection, hold juveniles accountable for their delinquent actions, and to enhance competency development.

The Department is a leader in generating quality jobs and maintaining an educated, skilled work force that serves as the foundation of strong communities with vibrant, diversified and expanding economies. Their services range from helping business recruit employees to helping job seekers pursue their dream jobs.

The Department of Lands maintains fourteen Supervisory Area Offices throughout the State of Idaho. The Department administers the following bureaus and programs: Surface and Mineral Resources Bureau; Fire Management Bureau; Forest Management Bureau; Forestry Assistance Bureau. Their mission is to professionally and prudently manage Idaho's endowment assets to maximize long-term financial returns to public schools and other trust beneficiaries; and to provide professional assistance to the citizens of Idaho to use, protect and sustain their natural resources.

The Idaho Department of Parks and Recreation manages 30 state parks. They also run the registration program for snowmobiles, boats and off-highway vehicles. Money from registrations and other sources goes to develop and maintain trails, facilities and programs statewide for the people who use those vehicles. The agency manages a series of outdoor recreation grant programs that provide facilities and services to a wide variety of recreationists and the local governmental and nongovernmental organizations that serve them.

The Idaho Department of Water Resources (IDWR) serves the people of Idaho and protects their welfare by making sure that water is conserved and available to sustain Idaho's economy, ecosystem and the resulting quality of life. IDWR provides a variety of services for the public, such as water rights research, historical record reproduction of water rights, driller's reports, and dam safety inspections.

CIS is a division of the Idaho Department of Labor and since 1980 has been helping people in Idaho with volumes of information about occupations, postsecondary education, financial aid and finding jobs. CIS promotes lifelong learning and includes assessment, career and college planning and financial aid resources. It is appropriate for middle schools, high schools, postsecondary institutions, and agencies serving adult populations such as employment offices, vocational rehabilitation programs and correctional facilities

The Idaho State Historical Society Public Archives and Research Library holds a large collection of material relating to the history of Idaho and the Pacific Northwest.

Idaho Housing and Finance Association (IHFA) is a uniquely created and organized financial institution and administrator of affordable housing resources. IHFA is a self-supporting corporation that must generate all revenue necessary to cover the cost of its operations. It does this by earning fees for work performed and does not use any state-appropriated funds for its operations. It functions as an agent for the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development and performs a wide variety of tasks associated with financing, developing or managing affordable housing.

The Idaho Military Division shall protect, preserve and defend the lives, property and individual liberties of the citizens of Idaho and the U.S. and to support and defend the constitutions of the State of Idaho and U.S. of America. The Idaho National Guard is part of the Military Division.

The Society's mission is to educate through the identification, preservation, and interpretation of Idaho's cultural heritage. The Society operates programs from eight building locations in Boise. The agency also oversees historic sites at four locations in the state (Pierce, Franklin, Hansen and Boise), which are operated in conjunction with local support groups. The staff as a whole offers technical assistance and historical expertise to county and local historical societies and other entities concerned with history and historic preservation.

The Idaho State Police (ISP) is the statewide law enforcement agency for the state of Idaho. ISP is divided geographically into 6 regions with a central headquarters and training facility located in Meridian, Idaho. Each region has a different captain and command staff, and are managed differently. Each region has two divisions; patrol and investigations. Other divisions include: the Alcohol Beverage Control division; Commercial Vehicle Specialists; the Cyber Crimes Unit; the Bureau of Criminal Identification; and Forensic Services.

The Idaho State Veterans Services is dedicated to serving Idaho's veterans and their families by providing superior advocacy, excellent assistance with benefits and education, high quality long-term care, and respectful interment services in a dignified final resting place.

RxIdaho is a program that connects qualified, low-income people with discount prescription drugs, direct from the pharmaceutical manufacturer. Their mission is to increase awareness of and enrollment in existing patient assistance programs for those who may be eligible. RxIdaho offers a single point of access to public and private patient assistance programs, including more than 150 programs offered by pharmaceutical companies.

The duties of the Transportation Department (ITD) involve all modes of state wide transportation to move interstate commerce, out-of-state visitors and Idaho's 1.2 million population. ITD is divided into five divisions and a support organization designed to serve and maintain the transportation needs of the state. ITD's five divisions are: Aeronautics, Highways, Motor Vehicles, Planning, and Public Transportation. The six support offices are: Budget, Policy and Intergovernmental Relations, Internal Review, Office of Communications, Administration, Information Systems, and Civil Rights.

The Idaho Children’s Trust Fund (ICTF) is the lead agency in the State of Idaho for child abuse and neglect prevention, as designated by the governor. The ICTF is also Prevent Child Abuse Idaho, a provisional chapter of Prevent Child Abuse America. The ICTF is the Community-Based Child Abuse Prevention (CBCAP) lead for Idaho; the recipient of a federal CBCAP grant that supports child abuse and neglect prevention activities.

The Idaho Commission on Aging (ICOA) administers and ensures compliance of federally funded programs under the Federal Older Americans Act and state funded programs under the Idaho Senior Services Act. ICOA plans, coordinates, funds, monitors a variety of services, in conjunction with the Area Agency on Aging, to address the present and future needs of older Idahoans, and serve as a catalyst for improvement in the organization, coordination, and delivery of aging services in Idaho.

The Idaho Commission on Hispanic Affairs (ICHA) is a non-partisan state agency providing services to the Hispanic Community and serving as a liaison between the community and government entities. Working toward economic, educational, and social equality, the ICHA identifies and monitors programs and legislation, and researches problems and issues facing Idaho's Hispanic community. ICHA identifies solutions and provides recommendations to the governor, legislature, and other organizations concerning issues facing the State's Hispanic population.

The Idaho Commission on the Arts is the official state agency for the support and development of the arts in Idaho. The Commission promotes artistic excellence, education in the arts, access to the arts for all and community investment in the arts. Its professional staff administers and develops the programs and services of the agency, assists grant applicants, and provides technical assistance.

The purpose of the Idaho Forest Products Commission (IFPC) is to "promote the economic and environmental welfare of the state by providing a means for the collection and dissemination of information regarding the management of the state's public and private forest lands and the forest products industry." IFPC provides a variety of statewide communications activities, educational programs and informational materials to educate specific audiences such as decision makers, educators and students as well as the general public about the need for proper forest management.

The Idaho Human Rights Commission (IHRC) is an independent agency established by the Idaho legislature to help protect persons within the state from illegal discrimination. The IHRC also handles complaints under federal law deferred to them by the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC).

The Board is the policy-making body for the institutions, agencies and school under its governance. The Board includes various agencies and committees (such as the Division of Vocational Rehabilitation; Idaho Public Television; Instruction, Research, and Student Affairs; Medical Education Study Committee; and the Idaho Assessment Oversight Committee) to fulfill it's duties.

The nine-member Idaho State Capitol Commission was created by the Legislature during its 1998 Session and charged with, among other things, developing a Master Plan for the restoration and refurbishment of the Capitol building. Subsequent Governors have been strong advocates of the Commission and its goal to restore and preserve the Capitol to its original splendor.

The mission of the State Tax Commission is “to provide courteous, quality services and to administer the state’s tax laws in a fair, timely, and cost-effective manner to benefit Idaho citizens.” Besides presiding over specific tax types and functional areas of the agency, the tax commissioners also sit as the State Board of Equalization for two weeks in August. In that capacity, they hear and decide appeals for operating property—property such as railroads and utilities, which cross county lines.

The Public Utilities Commission regulates investor-owned or privately-owned utilites that provide gas, water, electricity or some telephone services for profit. The Commission no longer has rate-setting authority over most telphone service providers. It does, however, regulate landline providers for service quality. In addition to rates, billing issues, quality of service and customer relations, the Commission is also responsible for safe operations of the utilities it regulates including inspection of gas pipelines.
