Halacha today deals with certain legal concepts, such as the corporate entity, which have no direct precedent in Halachic sources. At the same time, the American judicial system from time to time is asked to confront and even apply areas of Halacha dealing with such diverse matters as kashrut and gittin (Jewish bills of divorce).

Among all the thousands of books about law and related fields, which ones are most influential? Or, if we can’t measure influence directly, which ones are cited the most often in articles in law review and social science journals? One study gives us a snapshot:
- Mega Law Books
- Michigan State University Libraries
- National Reporter System
Our primary objective at MLB is to make legal research easier for lawyers - by producing law reports, indexes and computer databases. Our law reports are produced in books, on diskettes, on CDROM disks and in databases for online services and the Internet. We receive judicial decisions from court offices throughout Canada and from the Judicial Office of the House of Lords (U.K.). The decisions are read, classified and edited by our editors who create the material for headnotes and indexes for our reporters.

This web-site and its sister site lawindexpro.co.uk will provide many answers, but cannot provide them all. Books still provide a better answer to many questions than the net. We list here many books, law and others, which will be of interest to visitors to swarb.co.uk. Buying your books through these pages will go a very small way toward supporting the maintenance and improvement of the free information which we provide.
