Paralegal/Legal Assistant The candidate as a member of the Family team will be joining a firm which is strategically positioned to grow from 50 units (currently) to 1000 within the next 2 years.Will be expected to help us grow and, in turn, will grow with us. Reports to: Senior Litigation Attorney and General Counsel. Responsible for providing legal and administrative support to our Senior Litigation Attorney and General Counsel. This support will include, among other things, preparing legal documents, drafting pleadings and assisting attorneys with major motions and filings. Additionally, the paralegal will assist with landlord/tenant matters and real estate closings. Review and maintain litigation files and respond to routine correspondence. Assist attorneys in responding to discovery, file management and case progression activities. Coordinate hearings and court appearances. Prepare seller closing documents and coordinate closings. Assist with collections activities.
The candidate should preferably have 3+ years of experience as a paralegal, litigation experience. Experience with debt collection a plus. Must be familiar with civil litigation, and standard administrative procedures for advancing cases through all stages of the legal process. Specific knowledge of judgment collection techniques and practices is a plus. Knowledge of administrative and clerical procedures is needed. Must have knowledge regarding foreclosure and bankruptcy proceedings. Knowledge of Landlord/Tenant Law is preferred. Should have excellent verbal and written communication skills. Should be technically savvy and proficient in Microsoft Office. Strong work ethic and analytical skills are needed.
