The incumbent will be responsible for providing legal support, as part of a team, in the areas of government contracts, import and export control and internal investigations on a global basis. Essential Functions: Provide legal and strategic counsel to Eaton’s management and sales personnel (at the plant, group, regional and global levels) on government contracts and import and export control in order to ensure compliance with applicable laws and regulations, maximizing benefits and reducing risks. Lead projects that involve compliance with applicable laws and regulations in the areas of government contracts and import and export control. Partner with separate corporate compliance teams in government contracts and trade management to ensure that practices, policies and activities of Eaton’s businesses meet legal and management requirements. Proactively identify potential problems and devise creative solutions that strike an effective balance between cost and return, including both short term and long term business and legal considerations. Travel to various Eaton sites and other domestic and foreign locations as required. Perform internal investigations concerning potential legal, ethical or policy violations. Manage a team of one Senior Contracts Manager and two government contract administrators who manage, negotiate, evaluate and administer government contracts. Position Criteria: Excellent leadership and goal setting skills. Must be detailed oriented, possess excellent organizational skills and have the drive to work independently with a minimal level of supervision while maintaining high standards. Must have strong written and verbal skills to effectively interface with all levels of business, management and with Government officials. The ability to multi task, prioritizing commitments, managing time effectively and working independently to meet time sensitive deadlines. Must have broad based experience in standard concepts, practices, and procedures relating to Federal and state government contracting. Strong problem solving capabilities with the ability to visualize and communicate solutions. Strong customer service focus. Experience managing others.
