University of California, Office of the General Counsel Senior Counsel, Litigation The Senior Counsel - Litigation oversees outside counsel and directly handles all types of litigation and adversarial proceedings involving the University, including internal administrative hearings, writs, appeals, trials, and representation of University witnesses in depositions. The position involves providing research and advice on legal issues affecting UC Campuses, Medical Centers, Office of the President and/or the University at-large, including assisting with the development of effective compliance and risk mitigation strategies to facilitate the University’s complex operations. Qualifications include a JD from an accredited law school; California Bar membership; minimum 8 years litigation experience; skills to lead by influence and consensus and ability to work effectively with a diverse population; excellent written and oral communication skills; skills to work flexibly in a fast-paced, complex higher education environment; and ability to travel, inside and outside normal business hours. Salary is commensurate with qualifications and experience. Salary range is from $93,500 (minimum) to $246,700 (maximum). Hire-in salary typically caps at midpoint. The University provides an excellent benefits package, including a variety of tax-deferred savings and retirement programs. The position will remain open until filled.
