The Indiana University Law Library is among the finest academic law libraries in the country. Accessed from the first floor of the Law School, it houses a first-rate collection in Anglo-American law as well as substantial holdings in international and foreign law.
- Indianapolis - Indiana University School of Law - Indianapolis Library
The Ruth Lilly Law Library has a collection of approximately 603,000 volumes in print and microform. Library holdings emphasize Anglo-American and international law materials, with modest collections for comparative law and some foreign jurisdictions. The Ruth Lilly Law Library is one of the early United States government publications depositories. It is also a full depository of the United Nations, both for regular documentation and for U.N. mimeographed documents. Additionally, it includes a 20,000-volume Commonwealth collection. The library collection includes virtually complete holdings of federal statutory and case materials; attorney general reports and opinions; federal, regional, and state digests; all published state encyclopedias; bar association reports and proceedings; and the standard sets of encyclopedias, annotated cases, and citators. The library is a depository for records and briefs of the Indiana Supreme Court and the Indiana Court of Appeals.

The primary role of the library is to satisfy the curricular and research needs of the Notre Dame Law School. Satisfaction of these needs requires not only responding to current curricular and research interests but also the development of a quality research collection capable of supporting a wide variety of interests now and in the future. A secondary role includes providing legal information to the remainder of the university community. Tertiary roles include providing some leisure reading for the law school community and legal information to affiliated public and professional interest groups.

As the largest legal research facility in Northwest Indiana, our library contains more than 314,000 volumes in hard copy and microforms, and offers electronic access to LEXIS/NEXIS, WESTLAW, CALI, Lexis/Nexis Congressional, Access UN, Hein Online, ADR World, LegalTrac, LLMC Digital, RIA Checkpoint, the U.N. Treaty Collection, BNA Core titles, and the Inspire Network.
