Faculty of Law at the University of Helsinki is the leading Finnish provider of education in law. The instruction offered by the faculty is based on topical research of the highest standards. Graduates are capable of carrying out demanding assignments that require national and international legal expertise. The Faculty of Law interacts closely with the rest of the society in producing versatile educational and expert services.

The Faculty of Law at the University of Lapland was established in 1979. There are a total of ca 850 degree students in the Faculty. The Faculty has its own research series. The research in legal informatics has gained a significant position in the field internationally. Another special area of research is legal linguistics. The Faculty works in close cooperation with courts, other law faculties in Finland and its counterparts internationally. The Faculty offers a number of courses and lectures in English. There are annually 40-50 incoming exchange students and about the same number of outgoing students.

Faculty of Law offers students a unique opportunity to live and study in a global community, gaining exposure to a variety of different ideas and perspectives, and acquiring deeper personal understanding of the Scandinavian culture and its special customs and norms.
