James F. Abraham, managing partner and attorney at Hupy and Abraham, S.C., was born in Tampa, Florida. He earned his B.A. degree in psychology from the University of Wisconsin-Madison in 1989 and his J.D. from Marquette University Law School in 1992.After earning his law degree, he did criminal defense trial work with a firm in Brookfield, Wisconsin. He did not enjoy the work very much and joined Michael Hupy and his former partner in 1993 to practice personal injury law. Since then, he has settled or tried over $160 million in personal injury cases and had multiple cases resolved for over a million dollars. Mr. Abraham became a shareholder at the firm in 1999.
Because of his expertise in the area of personal injury law, Mr. Abraham is a sought after lecturer. He is also the recipient of several awards and was rated AV Preeminent by Martindale-Hubbell—an objective peer rating service.
A Board Certified Civil Trial Specialist by the National Board of Trial Advocacy, Mr. Abraham is active in the legal community. He is a member of Delta Theta Phi, a professional law fraternity. In addition, he is a member of the State Bar of Wisconsin, the American Bar Association, the Association of Trial Lawyers of America, and the Multi-Million Dollar Advocates Forum—a prestigious group limited to attorneys who have won million and multi-million dollar verdicts and settlements.
Mr. Abraham is licensed to practice in the State of Wisconsin, the U.S. District Court for the Eastern and Western Districts of Wisconsin, and the State of Missouri.
