Over the past 45 years, Mr. Khan has advised and represented several local and foreign clients in connection with a wide range of civil and criminal matters. His clients include international banks and corporations that have been defrauded by Pakistani individuals either based in a foreign country or in Pakistan.Mr. Khan provides expert legal advice and representation on white collar crime matters, money laundering, embezzlement, illegal transfer of money and assets to and from Pakistan and commercial disputes between a local and foreign entity that involve recovery of money.
During the past 5 years, Mr. Khan has worked as a Special Counsel with the law firm of DLA Piper in a banking fraud/white collar crime matter involving assets worth 120 million GBP. In this matter, KPMG (UK) is acting as administrator of a UK-based company that is connected to the illegal transactions and the company’s creditors include a consortium of three of the largest banking groups in the U.K. Mr. Khan has advised and represented the client in connection with both civil and criminal proceedings in Pakistan.
Mr. Khan started practising law in 1967. He is the Founding Partner of this firm (formerly Rana Law Chambers). In addition to the private practice of law, Mr. Khan worked with the Government of Punjab as a Minister and Advisor on Law & Human Rights for around 5 years (2002-2007).
Mr. Khan is an active and prominent member of the Pakistani Bar and has been elected a member of the Punjab Bar Council and elected twice as a member of the Pakistan Bar Council, a council comprising around 20 lawyers elected from all over Pakistan. He chaired some committees of the Pakistan Bar Council and was also elected as the Vice-Chairman of Pakistan Bar Council, the highest elected office for a lawyer in Pakistan.
