A New Era: Trends, Benefits, and Risks in Legal Outsourcing
July 18, 2012
Teleconference
USA
Description
Please join our all-star panel to discuss an emerging trend in the legal profession: sending elements of the representation outside the firm. We will explore the world of contract attorneys, legal outsourcing services, professional document reviewers, and e-discovery experts. The use of these individuals and companies in the course of representation can be very cost effective, but also raises issues such as the duty to supervise, confidentiality, competence, conflicts, and billing. The session promises to give insight into these issues and the intersection with the Model Rules of Professional Conduct, especially, 1.1, 1.6, 5.3, and 5.6. Our panel includes four very different perspectives: an in-house attorney, a partner in a large law firm, an ethicist, and an executive in the outsourcing industry who previously founded one of the pioneer legal-process outsourcing companies. Join us to get up to speed on this hot topic and the risks and benefits it presents.
