Description
The fight against terrorism is on the front burner. Since 1963, the international community has elaborated 16 universal legal instruments and four amendments to prevent terrorist acts. Those instruments were developed under the auspices of the United Nations and its specialised agencies With recent rise in terror related offence it has become necessary to examine the possible uses or roles if, any, of human rights instruments in this fight. Although this war is at the front burner, governments must also ensure they meet their other obligations to their people by ensuring that counter-terrorist measures respect and do not violate international human rights, humanitarian, and refugee law. Speakers/teachers are drawn from a wide range of experts in the field of international human rights law.
