Description

This seminar will bring together key policymakers, regulators and stakeholders to assess the future of the claims management industry. The seminar is scheduled to assess the impact of recently implemented regulatory reforms affecting the sector - including changes to rules governing referral fees, claim incentives and marketing practices - and possible implications arising from the Ministry of Justice's annual claims management regulation report.

Sessions will bring together claims management companies (CMCs) and legal practitioners working across regulated claims sectors - including (but not limited to) personal injury and financial products litigation - alongside representatives from insurers, marketing firms, banks, business associations and consumer groups. Delegates will have the opportunity to consider how policymakers can respond to recent growth in the sector - most notably arising from claims for mis-sold payment protection insurance (PPI) - as well as how the sector can most effectively tackle issues relating to fraud and malpractice, whilst promoting access to justice for potential claimants.

Richard Collins, Executive Director for Policy, Standards, Strategy and Research, Solicitors Regulation Authority and Kevin Rousell, Head, Claims Management Regulation Unit, Ministry of Justice have agreed to deliver keynote addresses.

Nick Baxter, Independent Chairman, Professional Financial Claims Association; Craig Budsworth, Chairman, Motor Accident Solicitors Society and Road Traffic Accident Partner, Glaisyers Solicitors;Steve Eckersley, Head of Enforcement, Information Commissioner's Office (ICO); Ben Fletcher, Director, Insurance Fraud Bureau (IFB); Alan Nesbit, Chair, Association of Regulated Claims Management Companies and Adam Sampson, Chief Ombudsman and Chief Executive, Legal Ombudsman have also agreed to speak.

Lord Kennedy of Southwark and Lord Marks of Henley-on-Thames QC, Barrister, 4 Pump Court have kindly agreed to chair this seminar.
