The Attorney General is the top law enforcement official in Michigan. It is an elected office with a four-year term and there's a two term limit.

The Governor of Michigan is the chief executive of the U.S. state of Michigan. The Governor creates and submits budgets to the legislature: signs or vetos bills as necessary: calls on the state's military in times of crisis: appoints officials to the state government: and assists in court cases.

The lieutenant governor serves as President of the Michigan Senate, voting only in case of a tie. In addition, the lieutenant governor performs special duties as requested by the governor, serves as a member of the State Administrative Board and would succeed the governor in case of death, impeachment, removal from office, or resignation. The lieutenant governor serves as acting governor whenever the governor is out of the state.

The Department of State is responsible for licensing drivers, as well as registering and titling vehicles. The department also regulates auto dealerships and repair facilities, and licenses auto mechanics. Other important duties include administering election law and voter registration, commissioning notaries public as well as overseeing the Office of the Great Seal.

The State of Michigan is located in the Great Lakes Region of the United States of America. The name Michigan is a French adaptation of the Ojibwe word mishigama, meaning "large water" or "large lake. Michigan is the only state to consist entirely of two peninsulas.

The Michigan House of Representatives is the lower house of the Michigan Legislature. There are 110 members, each of whom is elected from constituencies.

The Michigan Legislature is the legislative assembly of the U.S. state of Michigan. It is organized as a bicameral body consisting of the Senate and the House of Representatives. The state legislature enacts the laws of Michigan; levies taxes and appropriates funds from money collected for the support of public institutions and the administration of the affairs of state government; proposes amendments to the state constitution, which must be approved by a majority vote of the electors; and considers legislation proposed by initiatory petitions.

The Office of the Auditor General (OAG) has the responsibility to conduct post financial and performance audits of State government operations. OAG audit reports provide a continuing flow of information to assist the Legislature in its oversight of individual State funds and the annual budget. The OAG's overall goal is to improve accounting and financial reporting practices and promote effectiveness, efficiency, and economy in State government.

The Michigan Senate is the upper house of the Michigan Legislature. The Senate consists of 38 members who are elected by the qualified electors of districts. Senators are elected at the same time as the governor and serve 4-year terms concurrent with the governor's term of office.

The Michigan Supreme Court is the highest court in the U.S. state of Michigan. It is known as Michigan's "court of last resort" and consists of seven justices, who are elected to eight-year terms. In its dual role of regulator and marketer, the Michigan Department of Agriculture (MDA) provides Michigan citizens with quality services and information by working cooperatively with many state, federal and local agencies and other organizations including universities, colleges and associations. MDA's mission is to protect, promote and preserve the food, agricultural, environmental and economic interests of the people of Michigan.

The Department of Civil Rights investigates and resolves discrimination complaints and works to prevent discrimination through educational programs that promote voluntary compliance with civil rights laws.

The Michigan Department of Community Health (MDCH) is responsible for health policy and management of the state's publicly-funded health service systems. The department was created in 1996 by consolidating the Department of Public Health, the Department of Mental Health and the Medical Services Administration, the state's Medicaid agency. The Office of Drug Control Policy and the Office of Services to the Aging were later consolidated with MDCH.

The Michigan Department of Corrections (MDOC) is one of the principal state departments. MDOC's goal is is to provide the greatest amount of public protection while making the most efficient use of the State's resources. All adults and juveniles sentenced as adults convicted of offenses for which the statutory maximum is more than one year can be sentenced to the state's prison system which is under the jurisdiction of MDOC.

Michigan Department of Education (MDE) oversees public school districts in the state. The Department of Education is overseen by the State Board of Education.

The mission of the Department of Energy, Labor and Economic Growth (DELEG) is composed of several labor and economic development agencies and commissions to promote job creation and economic growth in Michigan by centralizing and streamlining the state's job development, workforce development, and economic development functions under one department.

The Michigan Department of Environmental Quality (DEQ) protects and enhances Michigan's environment and public health. As stewards of Michigan's environmental heritage, DEQ works on behalf of the people of the Great Lakes state for an improved quality of life and a sustainable future. DEQ administers programs and enforces laws that protect public health and promotes the appropriate use of, limits the adverse effects on, and restores the quality of the environment.

The Department of Human Services (DHS) is Michigan's public assistance, child and family welfare agency. DHS directs the operations of public assistance and service programs through a network of over 100 county department of human service offices around the state.

The Michigan Department of Military and Veterans Affairs oversees the military components and veterans services for the State. These military components are: the Michigan National Guard (Michigan Army National Guard and Michigan Air National Guard), Homeland Security Directorate, and United States Property and Fiscal Office.

The Michigan Department of Natural Resources and Environment (DNRE) is the agency of the state of Michigan charged with maintaining natural resources such as state parks, state forests, and recreation areas. It is governed by a director appointed by the Governor and accepted by the Natural Resources Commission.

In addition to its role of providing general law enforcement services, the department accepts the unique responsibility for the development and coordination of state-level programs, technologies, and specialized services that enhance enforcement and emergency response capabilities for the entire public safety community.

The Department of Technology, Management & Budget (DTMB) partners with the various state agencies to provide IT goods and services. DTMB has a client relationship model that is designed to help DTMB help support agencies' business needs. The primary purpose of MDOT is to maintain the Michigan State Trunkline Highway System which includes all Interstate, US and state highways in Michigan with the exception of the Mackinac Bridge. Other responsibilities that fall under MDOT's mandate include airports, shipping and rail in Michigan.

The Office of Children's Ombudsman (OCO) is an independent state agency with primary responsibility to receive and investigate complaints concerning children who for reasons of abuse or neglect are under the supervision of the Department of Human Services (DHS) or its private contracted agencies. In addition to addressing citizen complaints, the OCO makes recommendations to the Governor, the Legislature, and the Department of Human Services (DHS) for changes in child welfare laws, rules, and policies to improve outcomes for children.

The Office of the State Employer shall retain primary responsibility for compliance with state and federal disability rights laws on matters relating to state employment. Duties include providing Departmental ADA Coordinators with guidance, training, education, and technical assistance on workplace accommodations for employees with disabilities. These activities will be conducted in cooperation and coordination with the State ADA Coordinator.

The Michigan State Housing Development Authority, provides financial and technical assistance through public and private partnerships to create and preserve safe and decent affordable housing.
