You may claim top position for the directory of all law firms and lawyers in the city where your office is located.*
Regarding normal listing position/directory placement for our Premium listings, when you first list your firm with a Premium listing (and again when you renew your Premium listing), it appears as follows:
USA - General Listing Placement When a Subscriber Initially Lists or Renews
- At the beginning of your State's directory for all lawyers/law firm listings;
- At the beginning of your City's directory for all lawyers/law firm listings; and
- Near the beginning of the applicable directories for your city + practice areas.
Worldwide - General Listing Placement When a Subscriber Initially Lists or Renews
- At the beginning of your country's directory for all lawyers/law firm listings;
- At the beginning of your city's directory for all lawyers/law firm listings; and
- Near the beginning of the applicable directories for your city + practice areas.
Only the top position, purchased by directory, remains constant for a full twelve months (or pro-rated to your firm's expiration date, when ordered later during your subscription term.) As a Premium subscriber, you can purchase a Top of a City Directory Position for one or more cities where you have paid offices.

What is the Top of a City Directory Position

Your Premium listing will appear in the Number 1 position of the "City, State Lawyers, Law Firms Directory" for the city you have purchased. This does not include or refer to all practice area directories for the city directory you purchase. (To be No. 1 in "City + Practice Area" directories, see Top of Practice Area Directory Position)
Example: The law firm of Anderson & Associates has three paid offices in the State of Illinois. They purchase Top of City Directory position for their main office city of Schaumberg for a single payment of $400. The firm will remain in this number one spot on the Schaumberg, Illinois (IL) Lawyers, Law Firms Directory for 12 months, regardless of other subscriptions or renewals.
Worldwide
Your Premium listing will appear in the Number 1 position of the "City, Country Lawyers & Law Firms Directory" for the city you have purchased. This does not include or refer to all practice area directories for the city directory you purchase. (To be No. 1 in "City + Practice Area" directories, see Top of Practice Area Directory Position)
Example: The law firm of Wenger & Vieli has two paid offices in the country of Switzerland. They purchase Top of City Directory position for their main office city of Zurich for a single payment of US$400. The firm will remain in this number one spot on the Zurich, Switzerland Lawyers & Law Firms Directory for 12 months, regardless of other subscriptions or renewals.
Important Notice
Please note that the Top of city directory position is not valid for the search results obtained from the HG.org search module. When a person types keywords into the HG.org search module, the Top of City Directory position might not appear in the results. The top of city directory position is only guaranteed to appear on the directories.

As you can see, the URL includes the city and the state (or country). In this case, the firm who purchased the top of city directory position will appear on the directory in the Number 1 position for 12 months, at a cost of only $400

If you type "Chicago Illinois Lawyer" in the search module, the URL will be http://www.hg.org/lawfirms.asp
You will notice that the URL ends with "search" and that there is no mention of the area of practice or location.
In this case, the firm who purchased the top listing might NOT appear at the top of the search results. The reason being that the visitor might type keywords involving different areas of practice or locations (Example: Criminal Law Oak Park Chicago or Lawyer Chicago) instead of the exact wording for the directory.
However, Internet search engines capture Directories rather than actual search results. Therefore, when HG.org is located by a search engine, it always appears with its directories. This is why being in the Number 1 position in these directories is a very important advantage for your firm.
Cost
The price for a Top of City Directory position is US$400/year. We do not offer the top position for all the directories in a state, province or country. And although you may purchase a Top of Directory position for a city, it is the "main" directory for all lawyers and law firms in that city - not area of practice directories. Therefore, you cannot purchase all of the practice area directories in a city for a single charge of US$400.

Ordering a Top of City Directory Position
To order a Top of City Directory position, you must be a Premium listing subscriber and you must have an office in the city of the applicable directory.If you are interested in checking on availability and ordering a Top of City Directory Position for your firm, please contact us. Include the name of your firm, your client ID (if available), and if you have paid offices in more than one city, also include which city you wish to lock in the top spot.
You are not limited to only a "Top of City Directory Position", but may also purchase multiple Top of Practice Area Directory positions for your firm, subject to availability, for US$100/year per "city + practice area" directory for a full 12 months each. (If you purchase TOCD and/or TOPAD position(s) after you have already purchased or renewed a Premium listing, your Top position(s) will be pro-rated to your firm's expiration date.)
